Spurned by Saudi Arabia after he begged to hold off cuts in oil production until after the critical midterm elections, President Joe Biden ensured that prices would remain artificially low by once again tapping the nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve which he announced on Wednesday from the White House.
As he was wrapping up his remarks, Biden was asked by a reporter about the political motivation of continuing to bleed off the vital emergency supply and whether he was doing it to help his Democratic Party stave off deep losses in Congress, a question that he didn’t take kindly to.

At the conclusion of Biden’s Roosevelt Room speech confirming that he had authorized the release of another 15 million barrels from the SPR while blaming everyone but his own anti-domestic energy policies for gas prices, the “leader” of the free world was tripped up by an un-scripted question from the assembled reporters.
“What is your response to Republicans who say you are only doing this SPR because… to help Democrats in the midterms?” asked a female member of the press, knocking Biden off guard.
“Where have they been in the last four months?” Biden asked. “That’s my response.”
A second reporter then jumped in, asking, “Is it politically motivated, sir… three weeks before the midterms?”
“No, it’s not!” Biden replied testily. “Look, it makes sense because I’ve been doing this for how long now? It’s not politically motivated at all. It’s motivated to make sure that I continue to push on what I’ve been pushing on, and that is making sure there’s enough oil that’s been pumped by the companies so that we have the ability to be able to produce enough gas that we need here at home, oil we need here at home, and at the same time, keep moving in the direction of providing for alternative energy. That’s what I’ve been doing. Now, the problem is these guys are asleep. I don’t know where they’ve been. And they seem — you know, the price at the pump should reflect what the price of a barrel of oil cost, and it’s not going down consistently.”
Biden’s insistence that there was nothing political about the government taking extraordinary measures to depress the price at the pump to help Democrats was greeted by much skepticism on Twitter as many called B.S. on the nation’s foremost purveyor of malarkey.
“Biden says releasing more oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is ‘not politically motivated at all,’” wrote GOP Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee. “Sure, Joe — I suppose neither is extending the national COVID emergency to justify your illegal student loan bailouts.”

“Biden is releasing another 15 MILLION barrels of oil out of America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserves to try to push gas prices lower before the midterm elections,” tweeted Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. “Our SPR is for our national security and is now dangerously below 1984 levels.”
“Biden should be impeached,” she added, a serious possibility of voters kick Nancy Pelosi’s Democrats out of control of the House of Representatives as many anticipate.

Other reactions to Biden’s Four Pinocchio’s-worthy denial:
At a time of global instability not seen since the Cold War, Biden is draining our oil reserves to bail out his anti-energy agenda.
The Strategic Petroleum Reserve is meant for natural disasters and war, not trying to give Democrats a boost ahead of the midterms.

With Biden’s near depletion of the Strategic Petroleum Reserves – there is no longer a “reserve” which means they are no longer “strategic.”

Democrat Economic Policy in Action
Biden said today the US will refill its strategic petroleum reserves (SPR) when US oil prices are at or below $72/bbl, just two years after Democrats blocked former President Trump from filling the reserve at a fraction of that price ($24).

It’s shameful that Biden is using the Strategic Petroleum Reserve as a political tool to reverse the Democrats’ bleak electoral prospects. He would rather jeopardize our energy and national security than support American energy and lower gas prices. #IA04https://t.co/Frkt4gIuRY

Biden is depleting even the strategic petroleum reserves in order to win elections ! these are there for dire emergencies only.

While Biden’s move may be successful in keeping gas prices from exploding again for a few more weeks, the grim reality for Democrats is that there is nothing that he can to do alleviate the even worse pain at supermarkets where crushing food costs are taking a severe toll on household budgets with no relief in sight and an angry electorate ready for a change in leadership.
