Kinzinger paints McCarthy as Putin stooge for saying ‘no blank check to Ukraine’ in GOP Congress

Outgoing Congressman Adam Kinzinger lashed out at GOP House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy over his suggestion that the days of shoveling taxpayer dollars into Ukraine could soon come to an end if the party retakes control of the purse strings in next month’s midterm elections with America wracked by economic uncertainty and the money badly needed at home.

During a Wednesday appearance on CNN, the Illinois Republican and January 6 committee member practically accused McCarthy of being a Putin puppet, an effective smear that has been used for years by Democrats and their fellow travelers to tie those who oppose their policies to the hated Russian leader.

“I think people are going to be sitting in a recession, and they’re not going to write a blank check to Ukraine,” McCarthy said in an interview with Punchbowl News. “Ukraine is important, but at the same time, it can’t be the only thing they do, and it can’t be a blank check.”

McCarthy reacted to the hand-wringing over his remarks, “It’s amazing to me that, that somehow made news. Wouldn’t you want a check and balance in Congress?”

“Wouldn’t you want this hardworking taxpayers’ money, someone overseeing it?” The Republican leader asked, a legitimate question given that Nancy Pelosi’s House has served as a rubber stamp for the Biden regime.

Fighting words to many, including the emotional, easily-triggered Kinzinger who responded to a question from CNN’s John Berman about McCarthy’s daring to suggest that there are more pressing needs for the billions of dollars being shipped overseas right here in the USA.

“No, I’m not surprised at all because, look, we’ve had very strong bipartisan support for Ukraine and Ukraine fighting against Russia,” Kinzinger said. “What Kevin McCarthy said may be in his mind, he actually did believe that all he was saying is, hey, we want to have some oversight on this.”

“But what he did was give a really strong I mean, I guarantee you, first off, you know, our evening friends on maybe a different news network are going to be talking about this constantly. Folks over at Russia are going to be talking about this constantly on RT,” he continued, referring to Russia Today.

“You’re giving aid and comfort to the enemy, intentionally or unintentionally,” he added, all but calling McCarthy an agent of Putin.

“And there are a lot of people, frankly, in the world that are worried about what a Republican majority could do, not because of the majority of Republicans, a majority of Republicans support Ukraine, but because, you know, if it’s a ten vote majority and people like Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has made it clear that, you know, Vladimir Putin is basically some defender of Christianity, has her way, it would be pretty tough to get stuff through Congress,” Kinzinger said, insinuating that the outspoken Georgia congresswoman is also acting on behalf of the Kremlin.

Berman then asked whether “those groups” are influencing McCarthy’s thought process.

“Oh, for sure. I mean look, again, Kevin may not have changed his view on Ukraine, but he is out there trying to sound his whole point. And going out and giving that interview is to try to assuage those folks and try to assuage the intense, intense kind of members of the party that he knows he’s going to need to be speaker,” he responded.

“I think yesterday or two days ago, Marjorie Taylor Greene had made an offhand comment about how if Kevin wants to make the base happy, he’s going to have to give her a lot of power in the next Congress. She’s actually probably right,” Kinzinger said, seeming to refer to remarks attributed to Greene in a book excerpt published by The New York Times.

“That’s what’s probably going to be required for him to win. So, yeah, they are having an influence with him and I’m not going to be there next year. But those that are going to be there, that think kind of normally, if you will, about things like Ukraine and Russia probably should speak up right now or they’re going to be led around by the wrong people, the next Congress,” he said.

Other than harping about the so-called “insurrection,” the warmongering Kinzinger is absolutely obsessed with Ukraine and, according to an analysis by Axios, far and away leads lawmakers in official public references to the war-torn country.

If Kinzinger’s interview was an audition for a future gig at the self-proclaimed “most trusted name in news” then he passed with flying colors.
