Whoopi splits with co-hosts in response to Kari Lake saying she’ll debate Dem opponent on ‘The View’

The ladies at “The View” discussed the idea that the popular ABC daytime program could host a debate between Republican Arizona gubernatorial hopeful Kari Lake and her Democrat opponent, Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs who continues to duck a head-to-head discussion weeks before the critical election.

Over the weekend, Lake offered to debate Hobbs in a location of her choosing whether it be on a stage, in a parking lot, in a library, in a bar or in a car, on CNN or MSNBC or even on “The View,” a venue that couldn’t be friendlier for a left-winger with political aspirations, even suggesting that co-hosts Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg could ask the questions.

“That would be your dream, wouldn’t it?” Goldberg responded to Lake’s challenge on Monday’s edition of “The View.”

“I mean, hey! You know, we don’t turn people away.”

Race-obsessed co-host Sunny Hostin shot back, “Except if they’re election deniers,” a term that is regularly applied in a one-sided way to smear Republicans and conservatives who are asking legitimate questions about the legitimacy of elections but never to Democrats whose claims of fraudulent elections are hurled about every time that they lose on the big stage.

Goldberg replied, “Well no, I think we don’t turn election deniers away either because as you said, people need to hear where people comin’ from,” a factual statement considering the show has hosted embittered election denier Hillary Clinton on several occasions.

“See this is the problem with it,” she added. “We have to give you….” before Ana Navarro interjected that Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas is scheduled to venture into the snakepit in an upcoming episode, insinuating that he was an “election denier” as well.

“I think he’s been careful enough,” said Hostin as Navarro added, “I don’t. He’s been spreading the big lie. Let’s take him on,” as they both talked over Goldberg.

“Yes take him on, but you haven’t been here before,” Goldberg said as she regained control over the conversation. “What tends to happen when your guys come is they don’t come to talk to us oftentimes, they come to sell a book.”

“They don’t want to come to just talk to us. That’s what I want from y’all,” she added, pointing into the camera.

With just only three weeks left until voters go to the polls, Hobbs continues to chicken out on a debate with Lake, a former reporter who is far more articulate and well-versed on the real issues and who would make mincemeat out of her political foe as she just did to CNN’s Dana Bash.

During Sunday’s edition of “State of the Union,” during which the CNN host sought to portray Lake as a racist and a kook, the potential future governor totally outclassed Bash whose “gotcha” questions were easily deflected by the Trump-endorsed conservative.

Hobbs followed Lake on the show and, predictably, was treated with kid gloves and will continue to be given a free pass for her cowardly refusal to give Arizonans the debate that they deserve to see before decision day.
