Nike founder fed-up with left policies, donates big to GOP candidate to end Democrat rule in Oregon

There is trouble brewing in paradise for the Democrat wrecking crew that has laid waste to Oregon which has been decimated by far-left policies as one of the state’s most famous residents, billionaire Nike co-founder Phil Knight appears to have had enough and is actively trying to pry the governorship from the party’s grip.

With the state no longer even remotely resembling the once-pristine Pacific Northwest locale that it once was, and with crime, drug addiction, homelessness, and Antifa having transformed its largest city – Portland – into the equivalent of a third-world hellhole, Knight has donated millions of dollars to prevent Democrat candidate Tina Kotek from winning the governorship.

Now that Gov. Kate Brown’s reign of terror has come to an end due to term limits, Knight is determined to use his financial clout in a bid to restore sanity to state government, donating $1 million to GOP candidate Christine Drazan this month. Knight has also given $3.75 million to Independent candidate Betsy Johnson.

Knight spoke out in an interview with The New York Times in which the man who built the athletic footwear and apparel company into a mighty global colossus blasted Kotek and progressive policies that have led to the decriminalization of hard drugs, describing himself as an “anti-Tina person” while saying that he has never spoken to Drazen.

In the rare interview, the 84-year-old billionaire expressed his dissatisfaction with the priorities of the ruling Democrats, particularly regarding the initiative to decriminalize such dangerous substances as heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and magic mushrooms while banning the use of plastic bags.

“One of the political cartoons after our legislative session had a person snorting cocaine out of a mountain of white,” Knight told the paper. “It said, ‘Which of these is illegal in Oregon?’ And the answer was the plastic straw.”

Knight explained that he had abandoned the Independent candidate’s campaign because of the problem of her being able to “get enough undecided voters to make up the difference,” instead shifting his support to the Republican who is seeking to capitalize on rising discontent among voters with Democrat rule, especially after Brown’s  COVID tyranny and the draconian lockdowns which were among the worst in the nation.

As a result of Brown’s enormous unpopularity, Kotek, a former State House speaker is in serious trouble in the deep blue left coast stronghold and her troubles have led to the desperate measure of bringing in President Joe Biden to help her close the deal with voters despite the widely despised leader being radioactive to Democrat candidates in close races.

Biden traveled across the country where he stumped for the Democrat, calling Kotek an “articulate, tough, committed woman” in remarks delivered in Portland, a city that is overrun by drug addicts, the homeless and Antifa, invoking former President Donald J. Trump, a reliable boogeyman to rally the true believers.

“And so, as long as Trump controls the Republican Party, he’s going to have an incredible impact on state legislative bodies, as well as state governors as well,” Biden said. “So there’s so much we can do and have to do, but it takes somebody ready to stand up and lead.”

However, it’s looking like an increasingly tough sell to voters, especially with Kotek’s support for such projects as a “meth stabilization center” in Portland, not exactly a top priority of beleaguered Rose City residents.

You know that the tide is starting to shift when even a guy like Knight, whose company is one of the most outspoken promoters of leftist politics, has had enough.
