CNN’s Dana Bash no match for AZ’s Kari Lake in fiery exchange over 2020 election fraud

CNN’s Dana Bash tangled with Republican Arizona gubernatorial hopeful Kari Lake and came out on the losing end, repeatedly being outclassed by the fiery candidate whose uncompromising stance on the issues already has Democrats quaking in their boots that she will be a force in 2024.

On Sunday’s edition of “State of the Union,” Bash sought to play a game of “gotcha” with Lake, herself a former news reporter who well understands the tricks of the trade and wasn’t about to fall into any of the anchor’s traps.

Following Bash’s attempts to demonize Lake as some kind of a racist for her tough stance on illegal aliens – especially criminals – who have been swarming the border state thanks to the welcome mat rolled out by the Biden administration, the anchor sought to zero in on the 2020 election, a topic very near and dear to the hearts of those who depend on the self-proclaimed “most trusted name in news” as a source for information.

“You called the 2020 election corrupt, stolen, rotten and rigged and there is no evidence of any of that presented in a court of law or anywhere else,” Bash said. “So why do you keep saying that?”

Lake calmly responded, “Well, there’s plenty of evidence. We had 740,000 ballots with no chain of custody, those ballots shouldn’t have been counted…”

“Where is the evidence of that?” Bash rudely interrupted.

Lake replied, “Dana, there’s plenty of evidence, I’m happy to send it to your team. The problem is the media won’t cover it…”

Bash again interrupted, “We’ve covered this extensively and what you just said has been debunked,” a half-truth.

“Only one side of it, Dana. The real issue, Dana, is that the people don’t trust our elections, they haven’t since 2000,” Lake replied, referring to when Democrats failed to steal the White House away for Al Gore. “I’m a reporter, been sitting on your side of the desk for a long time and since 2000, we have Americans who don’t trust our elections.”

“In 2000, in 2004 they didn’t trust the elections,” Lake continued. In 2016, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar and Hillary Clinton, everybody on the Democrat side said the election had problems,” as she pointed out the double standard regarding the corrupt media and Democrats questioning elections.

“Ms. Lake, there definitely has been some of that,” Bash responded, cutting her off again. “But I want to say,  in 2000 Al Gore conceded, in 2004 John Kerry receded…conceded, in 2016 Hillary Clinton conceded and we didn’t see that in 2020. That’s the difference, and so the question is, are you undermining faith in elections by saying that the 2020 election was stolen when there’s absolutely no evidence to support that?”

“Dana, in 2018, Stacey Abrams never conceded, she still hasn’t,” Lake pointed out. “I  don’t hear CNN calling her an election denier. We have the right, it’s protected by our First Amendment to question our government and to question elections.”

“No question about that,” Bash begrudgingly conceded.

Later, Bash tried to play a Trump card with remarks from former Attorney General Bill Barr, a man who many believed in but now feel was merely a slick, deep-state fixer as well as other government officials who all denied that the 2020 election didn’t pass the smell test.

“So these are President Trump’s own top Justice Department officials,” said Bash as if Barr wasn’t already on record for stabbing his former boss in the back. “Why not believe them?”

However, Lake refused to take the bait, sticking to the cold hard numbers of the irregularities in Maricopa County as the two then went back and forth with Bash being reluctant to acknowledge the very real concerns about the election.

“All I’m saying is we need to restore honesty and integrity and transparency to our elections,” Lake later said.

Bash was relentless, accusing Lake and Trump of wrongdoing, a typical dodge by those who continue to resist transparency.

“You and President Trump are saying that the election was stolen, aren’t you participating, contributing, even causing the idea of people thinking that the election is not safe and secure?” she asked.

“No,” replied Lake. “We are going to make sure elections are safe and secure for Democrats, independents and Republicans alike, we want to know that our legal vote counted, we want to know the winner on election night, we don’t want to be counting for ten days and we want everyone to know…” she continued before she was once again rudely interrupted by Bash who was determined not to allow her to get her message out.

Her calm rebuttal of all of Bash’s talking points shows why Dems are fretting about a potential win by Lake against her opponent, Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs who continues to duck a debate against her though Lake has an innovative suggestion to have a discussion held in an arena that will be very friendly to the Democrat.

For whatever reason, the Biden regime and Democrats have adamantly refused to seriously investigate the very real questions that have swirled about the 2020 election when doing so would not only silence critics but allow them to thump their chests about the integrity of American elections, a position that has only led to more skepticism as the party and its media stooges like Bash keep doubling down.
