‘This is fire’: If AOC thought the anti-war hecklers at her town hall were bad, wait until she opens Twitter

After a humiliating town hall for which few people showed up and “rude” anti-war activists heckled her, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) faced more scorn from Twitter for the hypocritical way with which she handled the awkward situation.

As American Wire News reported, activist Jose Vega brought a friend to Ocasio-Cortez’s Bronxdale High School event and called the congresswoman out “for being a coward in the face of the party that will push us all into Nuclear war right now.”

“There will be no neighbors if there’s a nuclear bomb,” the protestor stated. “You voted to mobilize and send money to Ukrainian Nazis. You’re a coward. You’re a progressive socialist? Where are you against the war mobilization?”

In response, AOC called the activists “rude” and told them they needed to be respectful of the attendees who were waiting to ask their questions.

The hypocrisy, given the “Squad” leader’s earlier views on protests, was just too much for independent journalist Glenn Greenwald.

“AOC, 12/2020, on Antifa activists menacing politicians in public: Activists *should* be impolite. ‘The whole point of protesting is to make ppl uncomfortable,'” he tweeted. “AOC, last night, to protesters confronting her for funding Biden’s proxy war: I won’t answer you! ‘You’re being ruude!'”

“These citizens of color protesting AOC are angry and scared because she’s risking their lives in a possible nuclear exchange by sending billions to CIA and Raytheon for Ukraine,” he continued. “Her response? God, you don’t need to be so ruuude about it!”

“What happened to this viral manifesto?” he asked, referring to a lengthy thread Ocasio-Cortez wrote in 2020.

“The thing that critics of activists don’t get is that they tried playing the ‘polite language’ policy game and all it did was make them easier to ignore,” she tweeted at the time. “It wasn’t until they made folks uncomfortable that there was traction to do ANYTHING even if it wasn’t their full demands.”

And Greenwald wasn’t the only one to notice the hypocrisy.

“The Rubin Report” host, conservative commentator Dave Rubin, quoted one of the protestors who stated, “I believed in you and you became the very thing you sought to fight against.”

“AOC does town hall, barely anyone shows up, and she gets her a** handed to her by a constituent,” Rubin tweeted. “Progressives have no support other than corporate media and big tech.”

“This is fire,” said writer Heidi Briones of the exchange between Ocasio-Cortez and the activists. “I’ve been waiting for someone to call AOC out on blatant hypocrisy.”

“No,” Briones added, “I don’t want to date her.”

“There are only like 15 people at this AOC townhall…” noted Meghan McCain.

“Love seeing @AOC being roasted by her supporters,” wrote Sebastian Gorka. “But how come the audience is almost empty??”

Tina Forte, the outspoken challenger for AOC’s congressional seat simply tweeted without comment a slow pan of a protestor holding an “Oust AOC” Forte campaign sign amid all the empty chairs.

Despite the heckling and chaos, Greener Process Systems CEO  Matt Sweetwood praised the event.

“This is an old fashioned town hall. Thomas Jefferson would be proud of these citizens,” he tweeted. “Hold your representatives accountable.”
