Forget about the haphazard name changes to appease the leftist confluence over at the National Football League. Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder is now embroiled in even more controversy after claiming to have dirt on NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and other team owners.
According to ESPN, Snyder is wont to flex his muscle among his inner circle of cohorts when he feels cornered. Staring in the face of calls for him to sell the team and leave football altogether, Snyder reportedly told a friend, “They can’t f*** with me.”
“The NFL is a mafia,” he recently told an associate. “All the owners hate each other.”
That statement prompted one of his unnamed contemporaries to retort, “That’s not true. All the owners hate Dan.” Another team owner said, “He’s backed into a corner. He’s behaving like a mad dog cornered.”
Last year, two Democrat congresswomen called for transparency after the league’s year-long investigation into allegations of a toxic work environment in the Commanders front office. Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY), chair of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, and Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Ill) demanded a report on the team’s alleged improprieties, among which were sexual harassment claims, inappropriate photos of team cheerleaders and the fudging of financial data.
“The NFL’s lack of transparency about the problems it recently uncovered raise questions about the seriousness with which it has addressed bigotry, racism, sexism, and homophobia — setting troubling precedent for other workplaces,” they wrote in a letter to the league.
But it appears that Snyder’s hand is strong enough to make career lawyer Goodell wary about tugging on Superman’s cape, as it were.
“As a longtime owner, Dan has the support of many of his peers,” a Commanders spokesperson said.
One owner said that Goodell “doesn’t want to touch this.”
“This is what happens when you get into business with bad people,” the owner said about Snyder. “They know he’ll burn their houses down.”
On Tuesday, Oct. 18, NFL owners are set to convene in New York City with the expectation that many – if not all – will tacitly call for Snyder’s head on a platter. However, it doesn’t appear he will go gently into that good night.
In fact, the 30-plus team owners in the oligarchy that is the NFL will NOT vote on whether or not to oust Dan Snyder from the league.
I’m told there is no plan to vote on Dan Snyder’s status as owner of the Washington #Commanders at next week’s owners’ meetings in New York.

However, when longtime and revered football announcer Al Michaels more or less appeals to an owner to sell his team while in the middle of a live play-by-play broadcast, that stink may last for a while.
Al Michaels discusses the ongoing issues with Dan Snyder, saying “Just my feeling, I think what the league would love is for Snyder to sell the team. Not have to go to a vote but just sell the team. Because it’s become a major problem around the league, obviously.” pic.twitter.com/sBA5WrGChI
