Animal rights activist tackled by LA Rams star player suffered concussion, files police report

The animal rights protester who stormed the field on “Monday Night Football” reportedly suffered a concussion for his performance art.

After filing a police report, he may be lawyering up.

Los Angeles Rams linebacker Bobby Wagner tackled the interloper during the second quarter of the October 3 game at Levi’s Stadium between the Rams and the San Francisco 49ers.

“The Santa Clara Police Dept. says Alexander Taylor came to cops at around 1:45 p.m. on Oct. 4…He told them, according to the report, that he sustained multiple injuries after the Los Angeles linebacker drove his helmet and shoulder into him as he was streaking across the field with a smoke bomb,” TMZ reported.

“‘Mr. Taylor had a headache,’ cops said in the report, ‘a concussion without loss of consciousness, and a burn on his inner right bicep.’ It’s unclear if the burn was caused by his own smoke device. Cops say they are still investigating the incident,” the entertainment website added.

Taylor and a colleague are both allegedly affiliated with the animal rights organization Direct Action Everywhere, the group which took responsibility for the MNF demonstration

“A spokesperson for the group said Taylor — who was cited over the field invasion — filed the report because he believes a ‘blatant assault’ took place,” TMZ added.

According to the New York Post, ” the stunt was meant to draw attention to the trial of two of its members who allegedly snuck into a Utah pig farm five years ago and stole a pair of piglets.”

After the game, Wagner told the media that he was simply trying to keep people safe when he tackled the protester.

“Wagner laid a massive hit on the fan during the MNF game against the 49ers. He said during a media session a few days later that he was ‘more concerned about the security guard that was hurt trying to chase him. We don’t know what that (pink smoke) is. You’ve just got to do what you’ve got to do,'” Sports Illustrated recalled in quoting Wagner. “‘You don’t know what that fan got or what they’re doing. You see it all the time, and we don’t know what they’re carrying in their pockets…'”

Wagner’s teammate, defensive end Takkarist McKinley, got an assist in the takedown.

It remains to be seen if any serious legal charges will emerge, apart from a potential civil lawsuit.

The concussion protocol issue has become controversial in the NFL, but it typically involves injuries to those who are authorized to be on the gridiron.

Head coach Sean McVay backed up Wagner’s impromptu action. “‘We all know where Bobby’s intentions were, and I support Bobby Wagner. That’s where I’m at with that. I don’t think anybody would disagree.”

As alluded to above, “Fox News Digital also learned from a source familiar with the situation that Taylor is considering legal action against the Rams players and the NFL. The NFL declined to comment to Fox News Digital when asked about the police report filed by Taylor, while the Rams initially didn’t answer a request for comment,” Fox News reported on Tuesday.
