Billionaire Elon Musk got stung when he dipped his toe into the geopolitical pool, drawing a profane response from a Ukrainian diplomat over a poll that he posted to Twitter and being accused of being a Putin sympathizer by many who are heavily invested in the results of the rapidly escalating conflict between Russia and Ukraine that threatens to erupt into World War III.
No stranger to rattling cages as he did with his bid to buy and clean up Twitter, the Tesla/SpaceX CEO may not have anticipated the firestorm of condemnation after he weighed in by suggesting that anything less than total victory for Ukraine would be an acceptable outcome.
In his Monday post, Musk listed 4 possible conditions of a Ukraine-Russia peace deal including redoing elections in regions recently annexed by Russia under the supervision of the United Nations, recognizing Crimea as a part of Russia as well as assuring the peninsula’s water supply and that Ukraine remains neutral, a seeming suggestion that membership in NATO would be taken off the table.
Ukraine-Russia Peace:
– Redo elections of annexed regions under UN supervision. Russia leaves if that is will of the people.
– Crimea formally part of Russia, as it has been since 1783 (until Khrushchev’s mistake).
– Water supply to Crimea assured.
– Ukraine remains neutral.

“This is highly likely to be the outcome in the end – just a question of how many die before then,” Musk wrote in another tweet.

“Also worth noting that a possible, albeit unlikely, outcome from this conflict is nuclear war,” he added in a third tweet.

Ukraine’s former ambassador to Germany Andrij Melnyk’s response to the world’s richest man was anything but diplomatic.
“F**k off is my very diplomatic reply to you @elonmusk,” wrote Melnyk.
Fuck off is my very diplomatic reply to you @elonmusk
— Andrij Melnyk (@MelnykAndrij) October 3, 2022
Melnyk’s criticism came days after he left his post as ambassador to Germany following being fired in July by Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Having served in that post since 2014, Melnyk ended his term at the end of September following controversial remarks he had made earlier this summer.
Following Musk’s tweets this week, Zelenskyy posted his own poll in response.
“Which @elonmusk do you like more?” Zelenskyy asked, with the two options being “One who supports Ukraine” and “One who supports Russia.”
As of early Tuesday morning, “One who supports Ukraine” is the overwhelming choice by nearly 80 percent with over 2 million votes.
Musk was also savaged on Twitter after whacking the hornet’s nest with his peace poll.
Elon Musk is a gutless chickenshit. If you buy a Tesla, you’re giving money to a Putin apologist.

BREAKING: Ukraine's Ambassador to Germany tells right-wing billionaire Elon Musk to "fuck off" and calls it his "very diplomatic reply" to Musk ignorantly calling for invaded Ukraine to be "neutral" and give occupied Crimea to Russia. RT IF YOU THINK ELON SHOULD SHUT HIS MOUTH!
— Occupy Democrats (@OccupyDemocrats) October 3, 2022
Elon Musk's "thoughts" on Russia and Ukraine today prove the theory of why Trump likes Putin and Kim. All these guys like one another because they think they think alike, like power-obsessed sociopaths for whom human lives are mere statistics and inconveniences.

In fairness to Elon Musk's peace plan for Ukraine, I, too, sometimes tweet while under the influence of hard drugs.
— Kevin Rothrock (@KevinRothrock) October 3, 2022
elon musk can't even successfully negotiate a deal with Twitter but he's trying to broker peace between Ukraine and Russia???
— Covie (@covie_93) October 3, 2022
Others defended Musk while pointing out the insane direction that discourse has taken, especially when it comes to Russia and Ukraine.
The fact that @elonmusk could be attacked as “pro-Russian” merely for suggesting a possible peace deal — even though he gave Starlink to the Ukrainian war effort — shows how warped and intolerant the public conversation has become.
— David Sacks (@DavidSacks) October 3, 2022
Vast majority of the woke mob attacking him haven’t contributed anything to the Ukrainian war effort except a blue & yellow emoji.
— David Sacks (@DavidSacks) October 3, 2022
Elon Musk is what happens when an intelligent person who hasn’t been told what to think about a subject starts asking reasonable questions. You cannot actually make the case that Ukraine is the good guys. Russia isn’t either. It’s pure ethnic hatred. Hence not our 🇺🇸 business.

Elon musk: I'm trying to avoid nuclear war
Zelensky: why do you love Putin and hate Ukraine
— Michael Millerman (@M_Millerman) October 3, 2022
.@elonmusk now has the leftist Ukraine-flag-in-bio people attacking him for pushing for peace…you can’t make this stuff up.
— Hodgetwins (@hodgetwins) October 4, 2022
I like how Elon Musk's position is causing so much cognitive dissonance in the "blindly supporting Ukraine" crowd.
They went from Elon Musk is great because he gave starlinks to Ukraine forces to launch HIMARS missiles – to Elon Musk is evil because he tweets a neutral view.

If you don’t want a nuclear war you’re a Putin apologist #ElonMusk

Zelensky seems to have a problem with @elonmusk pushing for peace. Why is that? Perhaps it's because the blank check gravy train would stop?
— David Giglio (@DavidGiglioCA) October 3, 2022
Why is Zelenskyy mad at Elon Musk for wanting peace between Ukraine and Russia — haven’t enough lives and money been wasted in this unnecessary conflict?
🤔
— Paul A. Szypula (@Bubblebathgirl) October 4, 2022
Democrats and Ukraine do not want peace, they want more money.
Thank you President Donald Trump.
Thank you, Elon Musk.— Kathy Dickeson (@DickesonKathy) October 3, 2022
Musk has pinned the following tweet to the top of his account.
“Russia is doing partial mobilization. They go to full war mobilization if Crimea is at risk. Death on both sides will be devastating,” he wrote. “Russia has >3 times population of Ukraine, so victory for Ukraine is unlikely in total war. If you care about the people of Ukraine, seek peace.”

With last week’s blowing up of two critical Russian gas pipelines in a major escalation targeting civilian infrastructure adding to already heightened tensions, it’s probably highly unlikely that peace will come before more violence, if at all, as the world is dragged closer to the brink of nuclear war.
