Judge Jeanine delivers lib host bad news on ‘social justice nonsense’ boosting crime: ‘It’s destroying America’

Fox News host Jeanine Pirro went off on the “social justice” approach to violent crime and cashless bail laws in American cities.

Pirro got right to the point Monday night on Fox News’s “The Five,” with an important question: “Why did people who know nothing about crime, or law enforcement, or anything decide we’re going to do this social justice thing? And why are we as Americans paying taxes, tolerating this kind of criminal behavior where there are no consequences?”

“Here’s the bottom line,” she said prescriptively, in her capacity as the cast’s resident former judge. “You’ve got to reform the bail laws. You’ve got to put judges and DAs in office who know what they’re doing.”

The former New York State judge and prosecutor argued her case Monday as the hosts discussed the impulse on the left to consider race and other factors ahead of justice, which is known as “social justice reform.”

Pirro made another prescient point that could be lost in the emotion of this issue.

“Our legal system is now so consumed with the rights of the criminal that we give the criminal top billing. It’s the criminal justice system. It’s not the victims’ justice system. The victim never chose to be part of it. We coddle criminals in this new social justice milieu as if they’re the violated as opposed to the violators. Then we deny the trauma of the victims.”

Co-host Jessie Watters began the segment by pointing out the massive Republican advantage on the issue of crime. With a 22-point chasm between the parties, “it’s not even a close contest,” he observed. A poll taken Sept 18-21 by Washington Post/ABC News found that 56% of the people trust Republicans on crime, as opposed to the 34% that always respond as fierce partisans, regardless of the question.

Further, the poll found that 67% of voters rank crime as one of the top issues this cycle. The only issues that polled higher were also winners for Republicans – the economy (85%), inflation (79%), and education (77%). Abortion was fifth at 62%.

The backdrop of the discussion was another riotous scene in another convenience store in another Democrat-run city. Over the weekend a Wawa in Philadelphia was ransacked by violent, young hooligans who seemed to be there for no other reason than to create chaos. Watters also pointed to crime in New Orleans, where the police are recruiting civilians to make up for staffing shortages.

Proving that all good things come in threes, Watters cited the surrender of a career criminal who was wanted for attempted murder. The criminal was once the “poster boy” for bail reform in NY.

Ainsley Earhardt chimed in, observing that “You basically have to murder someone to get arrested and stay behind bars in New York.

What did Jessica Tarlov, the lone Democrat on the panel, have to say about all this?

She briefly recognized the problem for Democrats: “I understand people are upset about this.” But she quickly pivoted to the politics.

“We have yet to see if it’s effective in terms of what happens in the midterms because Republicans haven’t been able to necessarily close the loop to say we’re for some reforms. We believe in social justice reform, but we think x, y and z…” she intoned.

In other words, what makes Republicans good, bad or electable hinges on whether they sign on with at least some race-based reforms to criminal justice.

Tarlov seemed very uncomfortable, but she did her duty as a blue-check Democrat, infuriating as it was to hear.

Who wouldn’t respect Tarlov if she’d said, ‘I think I’d like to sit this one out. I can’t defend Democrats on this – crime is out of control in the cities, and they have no one to blame but themselves, as policies that let criminals out on cashless bail are all ours’? You’d think she would take a similar stance on open borders. And the economy. Alas, there is no shame on the Left.

While the cities suffer from anarchy, the Left keeps unabashedly pushing for more of the policies that got us here. And they cite studies that bolster their stance. It has long been argued that there is just too high a percentage of black inmates in the prisons, so something must be wrong with the justice system.

Axios quoted a “new study” which found that “Black people represent 13.6% of the American population, but account for 53% of 3,200 exonerations in the registry as of August 8, 2022… Innocent Black Americans are about seven-and-a-half times more likely to be convicted of murder than innocent white people.”

Are we still so impressed with the findings of “experts”? Are we so willing to throw away what we know is true – that prison is the right place for criminals? On the word of “experts” are we are willing to deconstruct the only system we have for making cities safer from criminals? It is plain as day what happens when we do. Does the Left want cities to be in the state they are in?

As for Pirro, her conclusion was decisive.

“Stop with this social justice nonsense or you’re going to suffer crime. Crime doesn’t just destroy your life or your family’s life. It destroys neighborhoods and cities and businesses. It’s destroying America,” she said.
