Liberal comic Bill Maher has once again nailed it, this time with the observation that Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s relocation of migrants to deep blue cities has served to expose the hypocrisy of Democrat politicians who have been champions of illegal immigration.
As one of the only high-profile media figures who has exposed himself to the wrath of the intolerant “woke” leftists who now are firmly in control of the Democratic Party as well as the larger culture, Maher calls it as he sees it regardless of whose feathers may be ruffled and he did so again on Friday’s edition of his popular HBO show “Real Time With Bill Maher” with his begrudging compliment to the Lone Star State leader.
During the “Overtime” segment, Maher discussed the reaction of Democrat mayors such as Chicago’s Lori Lightfoot, New York City’s Eric Adams, and Washington, D.C.’s Muriel Bowser to the ongoing busing of illegals from Texas to their cities, drawing hysterical reactions from politicians who are now getting a first-hand look at the real consequences of President Joe Biden’s open borders immigration policies.

Putting the topic into play that Abbott’s buses of migrants that arrived in Chicago have prompted “worries that a continued influx will strain Chicago’s resources, will this force sanctuary cities to rethink their policies?” Maher said reading a submitted question.
“It is an interesting question for liberals to be, you know, like, ‘Hey, let’s have open borders or close to it,’ and then when they come, but it’s not in our states. And Texas’ governor kind of called their bluff, it was like ‘Well you like immigrants so much, have some of ours,'” he said.
Maher later added, “There seems to be some hypocrisy about welcoming them but not in my backyard, that’s what seems different about this.”
One such hypocritical Democrat is Chicago’s Lightfoot who has been on a tirade since the buses began arriving in her crime-ridden, rat-infested city after Abbott announced the first such special delivery on Twitter late last month, “First Texas bus of migrants has arrived in Chicago.”
“Biden’s inaction at our border puts Texans at risk & is overwhelming our communities,” he wrote. “We’ll continue bussing migrants to sanctuary cities like NYC, DC, & now Chicago until the federal gov’t does its job & secures the border.”

“Let me say loud and clear to Greg Abbott and his enablers in Texas,” Lightfoot said after the first bus rolled into the Windy City. “With these continued political stunts, Governor Abbott has confirmed what unfortunately many of us had already known, that he is a man without any morals, humanity, or shame.”

“Instead of treating these individuals with the respect that they deserve, the due process that our laws require, Governor Abbott chose instead to humanely… inhumanely load them onto buses, send them on a more than twelve hour journey across a country that they don’t know and to drop them off without any regard for what the next steps are,” she said, not exactly welcoming the new arrivals with open arms.
After insulting Abbott for busing the migrants from Texas to Chicago, Lightfoot turned right around and shipped them off to a GOP-run suburb.
Also proving Maher’s point was D.C’s Mayor Bowser who just declared a public emergency, with one member of the city council whining that the influx of illegals has turned the nation’s capital into a “border town.”

“So it’s been said, but it’s worth reiterating that the governors of Texas and Arizona have created this crisis and the federal government has not stepped up to assist the District of Columbia,” said Democrat D.C. Council Member Brianne Nadeau. “So we, along with our regional partners will do what we’ve always done. We’ll rise to the occasion.”
“We’ve learned from border towns like El Paso and Brownsville,” she added. “In many ways the governors, Texas and Arizona have turned us into a border town.”
Abbott’s plan has been a stroke of genius, not only for exposing self-righteous Democrats as the flaming hypocrites that they are but also for giving them a taste of their own medicine which they are finding to be hard to choke down.
