NPR takes issue with WH study group on threats to democracy: ‘The problem? Scholars were all white’

Taxpayer-funded, diversity-obsessed National Public Radio (NPR) seems to be lamenting that a group of historians brought to the Biden White House were too pale.

In a lengthy article which can be read in its entirety for the full context, NPR bemoaned the “monochromatic makeup” of the assembled group (rather than what skeptics might consider its ideological bias).

NPR wrote that “the president met with a group of handpicked historians who told him that democracy was teetering, hanging on by a thread…It seemed the Biden administration had only invited white experts to advise the president…But it wasn’t only the lack of diversity in that group, it was where that lack of diversity seemed to lead.”

In an essay that does not appear to be labeled an op-ed, NPR continued that “If you don’t examine how democracy has died for people of color in this country, you might miss how freedom fades not in big bombastic moments, but in slow ongoing repression. And if you exclude the voices of scholars and writers who understand an anti-democratic, fascist order as heritage, rather than an aberration, you might miss how democracy has before been pulled back from the brink.”

According to Jelani Cobb, the dean of the Columbia Journalism School as quoted by NPR, “In having an all white room, you kind of replicate the kind of gaps in perspective that we’ve seen that have facilitated this problem in the first place.”

In a rational world, competence and qualifications would perhaps comprise the only significant metrics for the scholars’ invite.

Although it’s speculation, the White House visitors probably didn’t discuss, as one example of a threat to democracy, the anarchists (a cohort that Fox News host Tucker Carlson has referred to as Joe Biden voters) who looted and burned American cities during the summer of 2020.

Or how democracy-loving Democrats and their left-wing media stenographers spent years trying to undermine the results of the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Or how a two-tiered legal system appears to have been weaponized against political opponents.

The aforementioned meeting of so-called experts that may give a new meaning to the White House may have contributed, in part, to Joe Biden’s Philadelphia speech that demonized MAGA Republicans, an oration that now appears to have backfired.

Moreover, it’s ironic that anti-free-speech, authoritarian Democrats continue to claim that democracy is in peril, in the same way that misinformers themselves have mourned misinformation or those who champion inclusion actually engage in exclusion.

Doubters on Twitter are weighing on what they apparently consider another installment of NPR propaganda masquerading as journalism. Here is just a sample:
