Biden disrespects Marine Corps Band members by campaigning for Democrats at official event

President Joe Biden was politicking in Pennsylvania, much to the dismay of the U.S. Marine Band members who played at the event and are not supposed to participate in campaign events.

Biden endorsed two candidates running for office in the Keystone State in his Tuesday speech where he couldn’t even fill the sparse number of stands in the high school auditorium.

“Presumptuous of me to say that. But think about doing me a favor,” Biden said, according to Fox News Digital. “Please, please elect the attorney general to the Senate. Elect that big ol’ boy to be governor.”

But having the military personnel on duty at the partisan political event wasn’t the only problem.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro is actually running for governor and Lt. Gov. John Fetterman is vying for a seat in the Senate.

A person connected to the band took issue with the misuse of the service members’ time.

“I was unaware active-duty service members can wear the uniform at political rallies. Ask Defense Secretary [Lloyd] Austin if there is an exception to that regulation for Democrat campaign events,” the source told Fox News Digital.

“Anyone with eyes to see knows that the Marine Corps just gave an in-kind contribution to Pennsylvania Democrats before the midterm elections,” they continued. “And they’ll do so again on Thursday in Philadelphia.”

Social media users were equally unsettled by the news of using the military band for partisan purposes.

“Double standard, yet again,” @retiredtroop wrote on Twitter. “Illegal as hell. Unethical and clearly political. @JoeBiden is slime.”

Protect the Public’s Trust (PPT) director Mike Chamberlain responded in kind noting that it’s “never a good look for the president, or any other government official, to appear to use taxpayer resources for partisan campaign purposes.”

“However, the president and vice president are specifically exempted from the Hatch Act, the law which restricts federal employees’ engagement in partisan political activity,” the government watchdog said.

“Regardless of whether there’s an official violation, we at Protect the Public’s Trust believe that officials should be held to the same standards regardless of party or ideology and would hope that the activities of President Biden are held to the same level of scrutiny as those of any of his predecessors,” Chamberlain said.

Biden was also accused of making a racist statement in his Pennsylvania speech.

“There was a place I used to – I was the only white guy that worked as a lifeguard down in that area, on the eastside,” Biden told the audience. “And you can always tell where the best basketball in the state is, the best basketball in the city is…”
