Jake Tapper played the generational blame game in a discussion with a U.S. House candidate about President Biden’s student loan forgiveness.
According to Tapper, those Americans who formed at least part of the Greatest Generation are, instead, the ruinous generation.
In a softball interview on Wednesday, the liberal CNN host chatted with Maxwell Frost, the community organizer who says he was inspired by former President Obama and who, on Tuesday, won the Democrat primary for the Orlando-area U.S. House seat being vacated by Val Demings, the latter who is attempting to unseat U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio.
The media is touting Frost, 25, as the first Gen Zer in Congress, as he is likely to win in the blue enclave in November.
On Wednesday, Tapper teed up that portion of the segment in the video clip embedded above by mentioning President Biden’s inflationary student loan forgiveness charged to the taxpayer for those graduates who did not get a return on investment for a relatively meaningless liberal arts degree in a scenario where college administrators massively boosted tuition.
“I’m sure I don’t need to tell you, this afternoon President Biden announced that the federal government is going to forgive $10,000 in student loan debt for those who make less than $125,000 a year. The NAACP is out there saying that’s not nearly enough. In a CNN opinion piece, NAACP leaders wrote ‘black Americans have been disproportionately devastated by student loan debt… canceling just $10,000 of debt is like pouring a bucket of ice water on a forest fire. It hardly achieves anything — only making a mere dent in the problem.'”
When Tapper asked Frost, who doesn’t have a college degree, his opinion on Biden’s obviously politicized decision, Frost expressed support and responded with a nifty, but superficial, slogan.
“I think it’s a great step forward, but I completely understand what many advocates and the NAACP are saying. More has to be done. But as an organizer, I really see this opportunity as a way to change hearts and minds to bring more people in the fold to fight to cancel student debt. A lot of folks blame our generation and say it’s because we’re living beyond our means, but we know the truth: It’s not because we have lived beyond our means. It’s because we have been denied the means to live,” Frost claimed.
“And that’s why we need diversity of opinion, thought, experiences, and age in Congress because I understand the urgency as it relates to student debt. But this is a good step forward, and when I’m in Congress, I’m gonna fight to ensure that we can do even more to ensure that people have relief that they need so they can live their lives without the shackles of debt,” he added.
For the left, government spending — even on a grand scale — seems never enough.
Instead of challenging any of the politician’s assertions, Tapper chimed in, “I don’t blame Generation Z. Maxwell, let me just give you a secret: it’s all the fault of the Boomers. Let me just tell you that. The Boomers ruined everything. Take it from a member of Generation X. Congratulations on your victory Maxwell Frost. We’ll talk to you in the future.”
Tapper didn’t explain further what he meant about the anti-Boomer so-called secret information that he was sharing on national television.
The spry Joe Biden, 79, is just outside the Boomer grouping.
Baby Boomers are those born generally in the 1946-1964 time frame. The cohort that Tapper, 53, belongs to is said to be in the 1965-1980 range.
According to Politico, Maxwell “hasn’t finished college, instead prioritizing his work in community organizing (abortion rights; gun control). He’s never held office….”
As someone who appears to abide by the far-left, AOC-style agenda, one thing that Frost can count on is that he probably won’t get any of the bad press that Millennial U.S. Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C), 27, some of it deserved, received. First-term lawmaker Cawthorn lost in the 2022 GOP primary and thus will not be returning to Congress next year.
Frost may be chronologically young, but his website contains a lot of stale and all-too-familiar ideas: “As the first generation-z member of Congress, from day one, I will fight to end gun violence, win Medicare For All, transform our racist criminal justice system, and end the climate crisis,” he says on the homepage.
Instead of sticking the taxpayer with the bill, including those who responsibly paid off their loans, many perceptive pundits have suggested that disgruntled students who racked up a huge amount of debt band together in class-action lawsuits against universities, many of whom are sitting on massive endowments.
