Smith and Wesson CEO Mark Smith issued a statement Monday that rebuked leftist politicians for blaming guns and gun owners while at the same time cultivating a soft-on-crime culture that demonizes victims and emboldens criminals.
Smith scolded that faction of government officials and their media allies for scapegoating gun manufacturers amid a “crisis of violence” that he says is born of their own disastrous policies.
“Some have had the audacity to suggest that after they have vilified, undermined and defunded law enforcement for years, supported prosecutors who refuse to hold criminals accountable for their actions, overseen the decay of our country’s mental health infrastructure, and generally promoted a culture of lawlessness, Smith & Wesson and other firearm manufacturers are somehow responsible for the crime wave that has predictably resulted from these destructive policies,” Smith said. “But they are the ones to blame for the surge in violence and lawlessness, and they seek to avoid any responsibility for the crisis of violence they have created by attempting to shift the blame to Smith & Wesson, other firearm manufacturers and law-abiding gun owners.”
“It is no surprise that the cities suffering most from violent crime are the very same cities that have promoted irresponsible, soft-on-crime policies that often treat criminals as victims and victims as criminals,” he continued, pointing out that often those cities have the strictest gun control policies.
In addition to leftist prosecutors who refuse to prosecute crimes in cities like Los Angeles and New York, the City of Brotherly Love is on pace to defend its 2021 title for the number of homicides in a year. Philadelphia’s Soros-funded district attorney, Larry Krasner, has let crime in his city spiral so far out of control that Republican state lawmakers are threatening impeachment. Whether they will or not remains to be seen, as usual.
In June, Democrat politicians staged a demonstration outside Smith & Wesson headquarters in Springfield, Massachusetts spearheaded by Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), CBS Boston reported. His speech contained all the hyperbolic fear-mongering common to his party.
“More and more mass shooters murder more and more Americans with these assault weapons in hand,” Markey said. “The AR-15 style assault weapons made right here at Smith and Wesson were used in mass shootings.”
In his statement, Smith made sure to point out the asininity in viewpoints of politicians like Markey, though the progressive Left is wont to ignore logic and facts were they even to take the time to read such things.
“To be clear, a Smith & Wesson firearm has never broken into a home, a Smith & Wesson firearm has never assaulted a woman out for a late-night run in the city, a Smith & Wesson firearm has never carjacked an unsuspecting driver stopped at a traffic light,” he wrote.
“Instead, Smith & Wesson provides these citizens with the means to protect themselves and their families,” he said. Smith ended his statement by pledging to “never back down in our defense of the Second Amendment.”
The statement posted to Twitter brought forth the usual menagerie of anti-freedom geniuses who were dispatched with ease.

You LITERALLY just proved a Pro-2A point. HR 1808 will solve zero problems taking guns away from law abiding citizens. 🤦♂️

Besides gun violence, what do a majority of large cities have in common? What’s a big common denominator between them all…

This law abiding citizen is protected in part by Smith and Wesson.
Got a problem with that? Then you must want to do something to me that you can’t do now because I am armed.

Austin, TX – Aug 2020 voted to cut about $140M
Baltimore, MD. – $22M

…and more. Nearly all reversing course after predictably dire results.— Max Foolish (@max_foolish) August 16, 2022
And another who believes it’s Smith and Wesson’s responsibility to control human behavior.
What are you doing to prevent any shootings? You think taking rights away from law abiding owners is the answer? How about having security at schools? How about enforcing the laws already on the books for criminals instead of feeling sorry for them?
