Irked Liz Cheney rips Kevin McCarthy’s ‘word salad’ as he campaigns against her in Wyoming

The long-awaited day that Rep. Liz Cheney will face her accountability moment with voters has now arrived and Nancy Pelosi’s top January 6 attack dog isn’t going down without a fight, lashing out at Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy who endorsed her challenger.

On Monday, McCarthy took a trip to Wyoming where he campaigned for attorney Harriet Hageman, Cheney’s opponent in the contest and he spoke with Fox News Senior National Correspondent Rich Edson, saying that he is confident that the rogue congresswoman will be defeated.

“The principle philosophy is less government, an idea of freedom and the aspect – just the concepts of a country that’s conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that we’re all –” McCarthy said, before he was interrupted by Edson who defended Cheney.

“But hasn’t she fit that bill over the last several years?” he asked.

“I think her whole focus has been different,” McCarthy said. “Her whole focus has been against one individual, whether she has information or not, instead of focusing on her district itself.”

He also told Fox News that “this is one race that will sweep House Republicans into power,” expressing his belief that he will replace Pelosi as Speaker of the House next year.

McCarthy’s words didn’t sit well with the embattled Cheney who immediately shot back through her campaign.

“It’s really difficult to understand that word salad,” she said. “Was there an actual sentence in there somewhere?”

Few politicians have so willingly burned down their own career as Cheney, a member of Washington, D.C. royalty by virtue of her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, but that is exactly what she has done with her public vendetta against former President Donald J. Trump which, while endearing her to Democrats and Resistance RINOs, has alienated her own base in deep-red Wyoming which perhaps more than any other state, is Trump country.

CNN contributor Hillary Rosen shared her view that Tuesday’s primary is the likely end of Cheney’s political career, leaving her as a woman “without a party.”

On Monday’s edition of “CNN Tonight,” host Alisyn Camerota noted that many Wyoming Dems have at least temporarily switched parties to vote for Cheney, that it wasn’t likely to be the deciding factor in her fate.

“Ultimately I don’t know that it’s going to be enough necessarily to save her,” she said, asking Rosen, “What do you think of these shifting sands?”

“You know… it’s we have a common enemy in Donald Trump, right?” Rosen responded. “I mean, you know, politics makes strange bedfellows but I think, look, if I lived in Wyoming, I would vote for Liz Cheney because a Republican is gonna be in that seat so it might as well be Liz Cheney than, you know, this woman who just – it’s beyond me that somebody’s going to put her in the House,” expressing her distaste for Hageman.

“But, you know, look, Liz Cheney is still anti-abortion,” she continued. “She’s still, you know, has a huge level of conservatism. I don’t think–I think she’s going to be a woman without a party. You know this, all these people speculating that she’s going to now become a Democrat or she’s going to run as an independent, or let her be, you know, a vice presidential candidate for the Democrats, I just don’t see any of that.

“There’s really no party that Liz Cheney is going to be welcome in at this point,” Rosen said. “And it’s too bad, because I think history is going to treat her well and she’s performed an amazing, courageous, valuable service over this last year.”

If Cheney goes on to be clobbered as expected, the malicious actor will likely soon receive a rude awakening as to the fickle nature of the Democrats’ love for her once she is no longer in a position to help them wage their total war against the ex-POTUS.
