Ron DeSantis brings star power, headlines campaign event for Trump-endorsed Kari Lake

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis brought his star power to Arizona where he headlined a rally for Republican gubernatorial hopeful Kari Lake who is soaring after she emerged from the recent GOP primary where she vanquished the establishment candidate endorsed by former VP Mike Pence.

Lake, who has been dubbed as the “Ron DeSantis of the West” for her rock star potential has survived a vicious smear campaign from a transgender stripper who claimed that she hosted drag parties in her home, come out on top over fierce opposition from within her own party and overcome negative media coverage to stand at the brink of winning the governorship to replace feckless Doug Ducey.

DeSantis’ appearance is one of several that he will be making as he stumps for Trump-endorsed candidates, teaming up with Turning Point USA to headline “Unite and Win” rallies in support of Republican candidates including Lake, her fellow Arizonan Blake Masters who is seeking to oust retired astronaut Mark Kelly from the Senate, Ohio Senate hopeful JD Vance and Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano.

He didn’t disappoint the energetic crowd who gathered to see “America’s governor” as well as Lake and Masters, tearing into COVID authoritarian Democrats and predicting the long overdue retirement of Madame Speaker.

“We’re gonna be fighting back against lockdown politicians all over this country who ruined people’s lives,” he said. “And we’re gonna be fighting back against a failed Congress which will result in the retirement of Nancy Pelosi.”

It was DeSantis’ first public appearance after Biden’s hyper-politicized Justice Department and AG Merrick Garland stormed former President Donald J. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, a dramatic use of government police power against a political foe, something that he strongly denounced in a tweet after the news broke.

“The raid of MAL is another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against the Regime’s political opponents, while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves,” DeSantis wrote. “Now the Regime is getting another 87k IRS agents to wield against its adversaries? Banana Republic.”

DeSantis also denounced the raid on Sunday night, again emphasizing that it was something out of a banana republic and not America.

Lake also delivered the goods, vowing that if elected, “I will be the biggest pain in the ass Joe Biden’s ever experienced.”

Lake’s appeal stems from her no-nonsense approach as well as her willingness to take on the corrupt media, which the former television news reporter did in an epic style with a campaign ad from last year, literally taking a sledgehammer to the purveyors of fake news. She is likely eager to do likewise to Biden’s policies.

DeSantis has remained guarded about whether he may throw his hat into the ring in 2024, concentrating on his upcoming re-election campaign in the Sunshine State where he is expected to make mincemeat out of whichever flawed candidate – agriculture commissioner and former weed lobbyist Nikki Fried and party-jumper Charlie Crist who was the Republican governor of Florida before switching sides to the Democrats – that gets trotted out as cannon fodder in November.
