Hillary Clinton’s handling of classified docs draw scrutiny amid Trump’s alleged ‘transgressions’

The FBI’s unprecedented raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property has conservatives crying foul over the clear-cut double standards.

Their chief piece of evidence is the FBI’s treatment of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, whose own transgressions vis-a-vis the handling of classified information never led to her home being raided, let alone her facing any real threat of prosecution.

In fact, conservatives argue her transgressions were far, far, far worse — or at least compared to what’s known thus far about Trump’s alleged transgressions.

For instance, Clinton once ordered one of her subordinates to remove the “heading” from several documents so that the documents could be transmitted through a non-secure email account.

“[I]n one email exchange between Clinton and staffer Jake Sullivan from June 17, 2011, the then-secretary advised her aide on sending a set of talking points by email when he had trouble sending them through secure means,” CBS News reported in 2016.

“Part of the exchange is redacted, so the context of the emails is unknown, but at one point, Sullivan tells Clinton that aides ‘say they’ve had issues sending secure fax. They’re working on it.'”

In response, Clinton wrote, “If they can’t, turn into nonpaper w no identifying heading and send nonsecure.”

Conservatives believe the “heading” she was referencing was the documents’ classified marker.

But there’s more.

It’s known for a fact that Clinton used a non-governmental email account on an unsecure server to transmit documents that were so classified that they were labeled “top secret.”

To be fair, the documents retrieved by the FBI during their raid last week included four that were also labeled “top secret.”

The catch, is, however, that Clinton was found with even more “top secret” documents.

“Jim Comey told us that in 2016 that Hillary Clinton had 110 classified emails on her private server, including — and this is a quote — ‘seven email chains concerning matters that were classified top secret special access level programs,'” according to Fox News‘ Marc Thiessen.

But it gets worse.

It’s also a known fact that one of Clinton’s aides used a hammer to destroy two phones that were supposed to have been given up to the FBI as per a subpoena.

“An aide to former President Bill Clinton destroyed two of Hillary Clinton’s phones by using physical force, according to documents released by the FBI on Friday,” Insider reported on Sept. 2nd, 2016.

Even Snopes acknowledged this, though it did caution that it’s “not clear whether her efforts to eliminate her data were motivated by the desire to conceal information as her critics imply or dedication to information security.”

Still, imagine if Trump had done the same …

But it gets even worse. Remember BleachBit?

In September of 2016, then-House Select Committee chair Trey Gowdy revealed that Clinton’s aides had used a software called “BleachBit” to wipe her digital devices clean of everything, including presumably classified information.

“She and her lawyers had those emails deleted. And they didn’t just push the delete button; they had them deleted where even God can’t read them,” he said at the time.

“They were using something called BleachBit. You don’t use BleachBit for yoga emails or bridemaids emails. When you’re using BleachBit, it is something you really do not want the world to see.”

Despite these transgressions, Clinton’s home was never raided. Nor was she ever prosecuted, even though then-FBI Director James Comey openly admitted in 2016 that she’d handled classified information recklessly.

“Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information,” he said on the infamous day that the world learned that Clinton would not be prosecuted.

So why then, in the face of all this, is Trump being targeted so ferociously by the FBI? Conservatives for their part believe it’s for one and only one reason — the fact that he’s a Republican:
