Spirit Airlines reacted to an ugly altercation between one of its agents and a female passenger who shouted racial and homophobic slurs at him, leading to an exchange of blows as shocked bystanders tried to break up the slugfest between the two.
The action went down at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) on Thursday August 11, when the woman who is seen in a video clip wearing shorts and an unidentified agent for the discount carrier clashed in an encounter that rapidly escalated from verbal abuse to actual fisticuffs, most of which was captured on video and posted to social media where it quickly went viral.
The clip begins with the agent who is wearing a maroon shirt shouting at the woman, “You have lost your mind, don’t touch me ever in your life!”
“You touched me first and then you got in my face, don’t ever invade my personal space,” the Spirit Airlines agent angrily yelled at the woman who shouted back, “Get out of my face! You f**king f*gg*t” in an obscenity-laced tirade, physically pushing him as another man attempted to keep the two apart and deescalate the situation.

Then things got physical as she reached over and took a swing at him, sending the agent into a rage as he shed his blocker and gave chase to the woman, executing a flying tackle that sent her tumbling to the floor, then striking her after she got up and was attempting to retreat.
At that point, airport personnel intervened as the agent continued to melt down, shouting “Back up from me! This b*tch put her hands on me,” as he stalked his prey across the boarding area, yelling that “you got the wrong person” to mix it up with.
Spirit Airlines responded to the tweet of the video from the account DTX Daily that the man had at least temporarily been relieved of his duties.
“We are aware of this altercation. Our vendor at DFW has suspended the agent. Spirit Airlines does not tolerate violence of any kind, and we are working with local law enforcement to investigate this matter,” the airline tweeted.

A report from Fox 4 Dallas noted that the altercation was the result of an issue with seating on a flight, according to a DFW Airport police incident report.
“The Spirit employee told the airport police the woman got off a plane complaining there wasn’t a seat for her. He said he asked the woman to get in line with the gate agent, but witnesses said the woman cut in front of others and became uncooperative,” the outlet reported. “It escalated further when police said the supervisor tried to take her boarding pass. Another passenger tried to separate the two.”
Thomas Shannon, the man who recorded the video recalled the incident.
“I am at the Panda Express, and we hear yelling, and I drop my food. And my instinct is to pull out the camera and start recording,” he said, according to the outlet. “She was verbally assaulting him, physically assaulting him, and he just snapped.”
Shannon, who is a professional photographer added, “How did we get here? Why do we think this is ok?”
The video clip which is inaccurately dated 7/11/22 has been viewed nearly six million times since it was posted.
