The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) kicked off on Friday with a slew of highly opinionated attendees who weighed in on what their ideal Republican White House ticket would look like for 2024.

Former President Donald Trump was the top pick for many attendees at the conference but Florida Governor Ron DeSantis got his share of the love as well.
“Trump,” one attendee said assertively when asked who should be at the top of the Republican ticket. “He’s the only one that can make America great again.”

“I like DeSantis more than Trump,” one man said, grinning ear to ear at the thought. “I know that’s a contrary opinion.”
At the event that featured a Jan 6 protester behind bars with audio of testimony from those arrested, a woman sporting a pink Trump cowgirl hat enthusiastically said, “Trump, Trump 2024.”
“I think Ron DeSantis might be a good running mate,” she added.
While Trump and DeSantis were the most desired, others had a top three list that included Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas)
“Trump, DeSantis, Cruz – I would take any of them,” one person noted.

Other names apparently tossed around at the event included South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem or former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.
Despite DeSantis’ popularity as a potential 2024 presidential candidate, the Florida governor has declined to commit to throwing his name in the hat.
“People have asked me about that, probably about a thousand different times,” DeSantis deflected in a conversation with Fox News. “I’m basically, I’m keeping my eye on the ball here in Florida.”
“I’m doing 2022,” the 43-year-old governor said. “I’ve got a campaign coming up.”
Earlier in the week, many speculated that he was gearing up to announce his candidacy when his tenacious press secretary teased on Wednesday that Desantis would make a “MAJOR announcement” the following day.
“Prepare for the liberal media meltdown of the year,” Christina Pushaw added on social media. “Everyone get some rest tonight.”
He ultimately announced that he was suspending State Attorney Andrew Warren due to his outright refusal to enforce the law. Warren apparently was unwilling to enforce laws on “sex changes for minors or restrictions on abortion.”

“When you flagrantly violate your oath of office, when you make yourself above the law, you have violated your duty,” DeSantis remarked.
