Karine Jean-Pierre, the perpetually uninformed or ill-prepared White House press secretary, is getting roasted on social media for her lack of knowledge of basic civics.
Jean-Pierre, who (of course) has an Ivy League degree, claimed during a press briefing that the U.S. Supreme Court acted in an unconstitutional manner when it overruled Roe v. Wade in the Dobbs case.
According to Jean-Pierre, who seems to be fond of uptalk (i.e., an indecisive invisible question mark at the end of every sentence), “from day one, when the Supreme Court made this extreme decision to take away a constitutional right, it was an unconstitutional action by them, a right that was around for almost 50 years, a right that woman had to make a decision on their bodies and how they want to start their families…”

The decision in the Dobbs case returned abortion regulation to each state to determine individually, as Kansas did on Tuesday.
As Justice Samuel Alito wrote at the conclusion of the 6-3 majority opinion, “Abortion presents a profound moral question. The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives.”
In the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, the high court nationalized the abortion issue. In broad strokes, seven justices derived a privacy right in the due-process clause of Section 1 of the 14th Amendment to justify a right to terminate a pregnancy. Casey v. Planned Parenthood (1992) reaffirmed Roe.
In the name of reproductive healthcare, President Biden has signed a second executive order that asks the U.S. Health and Human Services Department to come up with regulations that apparently would provide Medicaid reimbursement for women who travel across state lines to obtain an abortion.
A previous executive order, among other things, expanded access to so-called medication abortion.
Joe Biden used to oppose taxpayer-funded abortion — and even called abortion "a tragedy."

Biden, who has repeatedly denounced the Supreme Court decision and “extremist” MAGA Republicans who support it, has characterized the Dobbs decision as prompting a healthcare crisis.
The pro-choice, pro-life issue is a highly sensitive one that shouldn’t lend itself to talking-point pandering, superficial rhetoric or, shall we say, misinformation, as many on Twitter have implied after Jean-Pierre’s apparent attempt to channel her boss or the primarily Democrat abortion-on-demand cohort.
She was just confused as usual. What she meant is the SCOTUS overturned Roe because it was unconstitutional.

Under this argument she would have never supported any of the cases that reversed the dicrimination against African Americans.
SCOTUS has a history of overturning past cases. If she thinks this is the first time this has happened she knows nothing about SCOTUS.— Nathan Robinson (@NathanWRobinson) August 3, 2022
She’s clearly not a constitutional scholar or passed the bar. Lmao.
I’m even pro abortion if done early, but SCOTUS was following the constitution, that’s literally their job.
Hell, even RGB said Roe V Wade was a bad ruling and could get overturned.
— Perry (@Berry_Pezenar) August 3, 2022
Must be the talking point she has been fed.

1. Abortion isn’t a Constitutional right.
2. Roe was a bad decision and even RBG would have overturned it.
3. Nothing was taken away because roe was overturned.
4. The Constitution intended for states to make decisions for matters like abortion, not the federal government.— Average American For Congress (@_averageamerica) August 3, 2022
Poor Jean-Pierre. She is forced to humiliate herself on camera all the time. One would think that a high school civics class would be a minimal requirement for the job.
— Richard Roland ❌ (@skyhookt) August 3, 2022
How do these people get these jobs when they don’t know what the hell they’re talking about They are unqualified and should be removed
— Robert Philbrick (@RobertPhilbri12) August 3, 2022
They can’t tell you what a woman is but for a Supreme Court decision they suddenly became a constitutional scholar.
— Casey Jones 1 (@Casey__Jones2) August 3, 2022
Someone gonna tell her? Maybe she can audit a high school class in Florida where civics are mandatory before graduation. What an absolute joke. I didn’t think we could get worse than Psaki. Ooof. She’s worse all right…
— KD 🐊🦩🐊🦩🚛🚚 (@KirseyBelle) August 3, 2022
She really shouldn’t speak on things she knows nothing about. Pathetic
— Kat 2.0 🇺🇸 FJB LGB (@KatTheHammer2) August 3, 2022
Yeah, like she knows more than the Supreme Court. She reads pre-written answers from a book and struggles with that even.
