Nancy Pelosi’s multimillionaire husband Paul Pelosi didn’t bother showing up at his own arraignment hearing, instead entering a not guilty plea through his lawyer for a Memorial Day weekend DUI when he was arrested after an accident with another vehicle near the couple’s Napa Valley estate.
The 82-year-old stock trader extraordinaire declined to appear at Napa County Superior Court on Wednesday, instead dispatching attorney Amanda Bevins to plead innocence in his place for the two misdemeanor charges of driving with a .08% blood alcohol level or higher causing injury and driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury in the incident which took place on May 28 when his 2021 Porsche collided with a Jeep.
Bevins entered Pelosi’s plea of not guilty on both counts before Napa County Superior Court Judge Monique Langhorne who was tabbed to replace the presiding judge on the case after the jurist mysteriously stepped down on the eve of the hearing.
Pelosi’s predictable not guilty plea comes as new details of his arrest have been reported, including that Madame Speaker’s better half reeked of alcohol, and showed “signs of impairment” during roadside sobriety tests including having “red/watery” eyes, classic symptoms of alcohol intoxication, according to court documents obtained and published by Fox News.

According to the documents, when Pelosi was asked for his identification, he instead gave officers a card for the “11-99 Foundation,” which is a charity “that supports officers and provides scholarships for their children,” according to the outlet, a gesture that some may interpret as an attempted bribe.
“He was unsteady on his feet, his speech was slurred, and he had a strong odor of an alcohol beverage emanating from his breath,” the documents allege.
In addition, some reports indicated that Pelosi may have also been under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident. According to Fox News, “Pelosi allegedly injured the other driver ‘while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and a drug and under their combined influence,’ the first count in the two-charge complaint reads.”

However, Bevins told Fox News Digital on Tuesday, “I believe that the drug reference is part of the statutory boilerplate language in the complaint.”
Assistant District Attorney Paul Gero concurred, saying, “It is boilerplate language auto-generated in the complaint. Our theory is alcohol.”
On Tuesday’s edition of “Jesse Watters Tonight,” the host brought attention to what he suggested was political skullduggery, with cameras being banned from the courtroom, live-feed recordings, and the last-minute substitution of judges to preside over Pelosi’s hearing.
“So who’s this new judge? You’re not gonna believe this, her name is Monique Langhorne and she’s a registered Democrat whose previous job, are you ready? She used to work for the Napa County DA’s office,” Watters pointed out. “Does Judge Langhorne have any experience in criminal cases? No, this would be her first.”

“And it gets better, guess who donated to this judge’s campaign? The assistant DA who’s going to be prosecuting the case tomorrow,” as well as the DA herself, he said. “She’s very well-connected, she was appointed to a special advisory board by Gavin Newsom too, so I mean this is totally deck stacking if I’ve ever seen it”
“How can we expect a fair trial here when the judge and the prosecutors are all politically on the same side as the defendant?” Watters asked. “Financially connected, there’s a family connection we told you about too. Can you say rigged?”
Mr. Pelosi – who will remain free on his own recognizance is due back in court on August 23 for a settlement conference where “the parties could discuss the possibility of a plea agreement, continue the case or prepare for trial, Bevins said,” according to Fox News.
“If convicted, Pelosi could face up to five years of probation, a minimum of five days in jail and be ordered to install an ignition interlock device in his car, according to District Attorney Allison Haley’s office. Other punishments could include fines and fees and a court-ordered ‘drinking driver class,'” the outlet reported.
