Trans cheerleader gets assault citation, accused of ‘choking out’ female teammate who called her a man at cheer camp

Responding cops reportedly kicked a transgender cheerleader out of a training camp at a Texas college and issued a criminal citation to the cheerleader after an alleged choking incident.

The alleged victim, 17, known as Karleigh, along with other cheerleaders, reportedly hid in a locker room after the campus incident.

In a Facebook post that may have been subsequently deleted, Averie Chanel Medlock, 25, whom Fox News indicates was born a biological male, wrote the following about the confrontation at Ranger College:

“Well guys I’m officially retired as a cheerleader as of last night at 5:30 AM. A girl on the team was being very disrespectful and told me I am a MAN with a PENIS and that [guys] should not be on the team. I stood up for myself and she called her mom and dad because she was scared because I [stood] up for myself. Her father said ‘she still has testosterone and a penis and I will kill anyone who comes after my daughter.’”

Medlock told the Abilene, Texas-based Big Country news outlet that “she never assaulted anyone and was only yelling, so she doesn’t know why she’s facing a criminal citation.”

“Medlock alleges that a teammate made transphobic and racist remarks before the altercation,” Fox News reported.

Kayleigh’s father provided a different version of events, however.

“I ask you what you would have done when receiving a phone call at 1 o’clock in the morning from your daughter stating they had locked themselves in the room with other girls, after this person said You want to fight, and proceeded to put their hands around my daughter’s neck,” he purportedly wrote, in part, on Facebook.

The dad is also calling for authorities to release any surveillance or bodycam video of the surrounding circumstances.

Medlock posted a Facebook video of the bickering that occurred outside the aforementioned closed door in which she denied any physical assault and insisted that she was just joking with Karleigh. (*Warning for language).

During the conversation, one of the cheerleaders behind the door can be heard saying “you’re a man…you have a penis.” Medlock responded, “I’m not a man, b—h.” Another girl seems to remark that Karleigh “was terrified” about what allegedly happened at the cheerleading camp.

Watch/listen and draw your own conclusions:

“KTAB and KRBC obtained a copy of the citation, and learned that it was a misdemeanor citation for Assault by Physical Contact, and a call to the Eastland County District Attorney’s Office confirmed it was issued on allegations of unwanted touching. After the citation was issued, Averie was kicked off of Ranger College property and sent home to the Waco area,” Big Country explained.

Medlock also told Big Country that “They knew that I was trans. They knew that I was different from all the other girls. It wasn’t a big deal until her dad came up there and made a scene.”

In a statement, the educational institution asserted that “Ranger College takes all allegations of this nature seriously and is committed to providing a learning environment free from discrimination. At this time, Ranger College is following all applicable Title IX regulations and Board Policies.”

All suspects are presumed innocent until or unless they are convicted in a court of law of any alleged crimes.
