Democrats, who were crushed when former special counsel Robert Mueller’s sweeping witch hunt failed to destroy the political career of former President Donald J. Trump, now see Attorney General Merrick Garland as their new beacon of hope to exact the brutal vengeance for the 2016 election that they have thirsted for.
With the Jan. 6 committee show trial having paused for summer break after failing to make a compelling case against Trump, expectations have now shifted to Garland, the Biden appointee who could soon act in an unprecedented manner to bring charges against the top presidential candidate for the opposition party, should Trump run — a move that will validate the belief held by many that America has entered banana republic territory with two sets of rules, one for Democrats and one for their political foes.
“I think all eyes are on Garland in the same way as they were on Mueller, with the major difference, of course, that Mueller had no power to criminally prosecute,” author and Vanderbilt University political historian Eli Merritt is quoted in an article published by The Hill.

Another left-wing Trump hater, Harvard Law School professor Laurence Tribe took to Twitter last week to pressure Garland to act.
“Now that the summer season of the January 6 Committee’s hearings is over, it’s time to tell AG Garland he has NO CHOICE but to INDICT the former president,” he wrote. “NOT indicting Trump amounts to giving him an unearned PARDON.”

NOT indicting Trump amounts to giving him an unearned PARDON.
Handing out pardons isn’t within any AG’s job description. https://t.co/7L0xq0oPIK

Faith in Garland to move against Trump comes three years after the pedestal that Democrats, the media and the arrayed Resistance against Trump had placed the former FBI boss upon was toppled when Mueller not only failed to deliver but was exposed as a doddering old man during his heavily-hyped congressional testimony, a massive flop where he bumbled his way through questions and gave the appearance that he didn’t know what was in the report with his name on it.
But hope springs eternal that things will be different now and that with Garland at the helm, that the walls really are closing in on Trump this time.
Twitter users took to the platform to express their opinion about Dem hopes that the current attorney general will finish the job Mueller failed at.
They hope this 1000th time will be the charm lol

You DO realize that prosecuting people over politics is pretty much one definition of tyranny?

And how about Hunter, Jim and The Big Guy. You have all the evidence! I know, I’m dreaming. Two standards of Justice: One for the team that’s winning currently and one for—gasp—conservatives. Wait until 2023, but get your resumes updated now.

Dems are petrified of a real trial on this matter, with actual cross examinations and counter testimony. Won’t happen.

Garland gave hope to the haters last week during an NBC News interview where he didn’t rule out a politically-motivated prosecution of Trump.
“So if Donald Trump were to become a candidate for president again, that would not change your schedule or how you move forward or don’t move forward?” host Lester Holt asked of Garland.
“I’ll say again that we will hold accountable anyone who is criminally responsible for attempting to interfere with the transfer, legitimate, lawful transfer of power, from one administration to the next,” the attorney general responded.

“I think there’s no doubt that the evidence and testimony that’s been presented by the committee has increased the appetite for the public for accountability and for prosecutions. We’ve seen a steady increase in interest,” said Defend Democracy Project president Brad Woodhouse of potential charges against Trump.
“These hearings, this investigation, the testimony and evidence that’s been presented in public has been wildly successful. It has exceeded everyone’s expectations,” he added. “In my view, Donald Trump has been tried and convicted in the court of public opinion regardless of whether he’s tried and convicted in a criminal court.”
