Philly female teen, 14, second to face murder charges in horrific beating of elderly man with traffic cone

After turning herself in to police on Wednesday, a 14-year-old girl faces a murder charge in connection with the alleged beating death of a senior citizen in north Philadelphia.

In a ghastly ambush caught on surveillance video, James Lambert, 73, was allegedly attacked with a traffic cone by a group of youths in the early morning hours of June 24 and fell to the ground.

The following day at a local hospital where he had been transported, Lambert tragically passed away from head injuries.

The young female is reportedly charged with third-degree murder and criminal conspiracy and is set to be tried as an adult. She allegedly struck Lambert at least twice with the cone.

According to Fox 29 Philadelphia, “although seven juveniles are seen in the surveillance video, only two are expected to be charged.”

The investigation is ongoing, and more facts and circumstances will likely emerge.

According to WPVI, ABC 6 Philadelphia, the medical examiner has determined blunt force trauma was the cause of death of the elderly man.

“Two brothers, ages 10 and 14, turned themselves in to authorities on Monday. The older of the two…faces a murder charge as an adult, according to officials. His 10-year-old brother was released and is not being charged with the crime,” Fox 29 added.

As alluded to above, cops have apparently interviewed and released several teens or pre-teens who are reportedly depicted on the video and who had turned themselves in to police. This included a 12-year-old girl who turned herself in to authorities at the same time as the 14-year-old.

According to the 14-year-old’s lawyer, the youngster does not pose a danger to society, and he is reportedly proposing house arrest, CBS Philadelphia reported.

A bail hearing is expected sometime this week.

“To lock up these children for a long period of time, do you think that will fix the problem that we have? I would say it’s not. My goal is to keep her in a juvenile system, in a school…,” the attorney added.

“I would ask that everyone hold judgment,” he added.

Pennsylvania law requires juvenile murder suspects to be tried as adults.

“The attack on Lambert occurred 12 days before Mayor Jim Kenney signed a bill implementing an earlier curfew for Philadelphia teens for the rest of the summer. Under the new curfew…kids age 17 and younger must be indoors and off the streets by 10 p.m.; those 13 and younger must be home by 9:30,” the Philadelphia Inquirer explained.

Kenny is the same liberal official who admitted earlier this month that he is looking forward to no longer being mayor of what now appears to be the misnamed City of Brotherly Love.

Crime-ridden Philadelphia is also yet another Democrat-controlled city that elected a Soros-backed, soft-on-crime district attorney.

All suspects are presumed innocent until or unless they are convicted in a court of law of any alleged crimes.
