It would appear that Russian state media is seizing on American liberal talking points to stir the political pot in the country, invoking the argument that Russia was involved in getting former President Donald Trump elected.
Julia Davis, a columnist at The Daily Beast, tweeted a clip of the news segment where Russian state reporters claim Trump “promised to destroy the Russian Federation or destroy [Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s hegemony” if he were to be elected a second time.
Host Olga Skabeeva replied that the country of Russia “will have to think whether to re-install him again as the American president. We haven’t decided yet.”

It should be noted that Davis and others could not find the specific remarks the Russian media were discussing here about Trump “destroying” anything.

This is not the first time that Russian state media has used Trump and the allegations against him to kick the dust up in America.
In March 2022, Evgeny Popov, the host of the Russian version of “60 Minutes” called for a regime change in the United States and referred to Trump as their “partner.”
“It’s time for us, our people, to call on the people of the United States to change the regime in the U.S. early, and to again help our partner, Trump, to become president,” Popov declared.
That statement whipped into a frenzy liberals who bolster their debunked belief that Russia influenced the 2016 election and helped Trump into the White House.

State TV is propaganda and seriously needs to be treated with care when reporting anything from it as more than a half-truth.
Regardless of it being true or not they applied pressure right back to him by casting further suspicion. I hope this escalates.
