Nancy Pelosi’s office pushed back over an embarrassing video that showed the octogenarian Speaker of the House shoving the young daughter of GOP Rep. Mayra Flores when her mother, the first Mexican-born woman to be elected to Congress was being sworn in, resulting in outrage against the California Democrat.
In the video which has gone viral, Pelosi is clearly seen pushing the young girl to the side during a photo op, a classless move that has been described as “witchy” by one of the many critics who took to social media to weigh in on the shove.
One who was outraged was the child’s mother, the newest member of Congress and the Texas Republican took to Twitter to praise her daughter and express her dissatisfaction with Pelosi’s rude behavior.
“I am so proud of my strong, beautiful daughter for not allowing this to faze her. She continued to smile and pose for the picture like a Queen,” wrote Flores. “No child should be pushed to the side for a photo op. PERIOD!!”

On Monday, Madame Speaker’s camp went into damage control mode with a “who are you gonna believe, me or your own lying eyes?” defense of her sad conduct and accused media outlets of ‘misrepresenting’ what happened.
Drew Hammill who is Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff, took to Twitter to put his spin on the incident, showing an additional video of Pelosi “graciously greeting Rep. Flores’ children and telling them about the room that they are in.”
Hammill also accused conservative media of distorting what happened, “It’s sad to see ‘news outlets’ that know better misrepresent the Speaker’s effort to ensure Rep. Flores’ daughters wouldn’t be hidden behind her in all of the photos of such an important moment for their family.”

There was, however, one big problem. Hammill’s footage also showed his boss giving a shove to Rep. Flores’ daughter.
Many on Twitter weren’t buying it.
Too late Drew. To characterize the elbow, similar to a body check in hockey, as an effort to make sure the young girl was in the picture? Ridiculous. We saw it for what it was. Just stop.

Rep. Flores’ win in a deep blue district that had been dominated by Democrats for years was seen by many as a bellwether race in an election year when voters are preparing to respond to the disastrous and destructive policies of Pelosi, Biden, and their ilk by dislodging them from power, a prospect that understandably has Madame Speaker likely feeling uneasy.
