Despite being a Trump-loathing, GOP bashing liberal, Bill Maher continues to challenge the Democrat narrative on various issues, and in so doing, is educating his mostly leftist HBO “Real Time” audience about the real world
This includes the political realignment that is reportedly occurring among America’s Hispanic population.
On Friday night’s episode, Maher called out Democrats for being oblivious to the stunning special election victory by now U.S. Rep. Mayra Flores in a deep blue district that Dems controlled for 100-plus years. The redrawn district will have different boundaries in November, so it remains to be seen how Flores will do in that scenario.
Maher implied that Democrats are prioritizing woke identity politics, including open borders illegal immigration, and other forms of progressive pandering, over the pressing needs of American citizens from all backgrounds.
As viewers watching at home have noticed, the liberal in-studio audience hesitates to laugh or applaud during one of those monologues, but they do seem to be getting used to it.

He began the segment in the video clip embedded above by recalling that Johnny Deep prevailed over Amber Herd in the closely followed, headline-making Virginia defamation trial because he had a good lawyer.
“Point being, you need a good representative in court, which made me think, ‘where else does that term representative come up? Oh yeah, Congress.’ You see in the American political system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally stupid groups: The Republicans who ‘normalize constitutional crimes,’ and the Democrats who pit identify groups against each other…”
The comedian and free-speech advocate continued: “Last week, an 85-percent Latino congressional district on the border with Mexico, which had always voted heavily Democratic, flipped to the red team, and the campaign manager for the losing Democrat said, ‘we gave up a reliably Democratic congressional seat for no reason at all. We deserve to know why.’ Aside from your terrible attitude, I’m gonna tell you why.”
Maher went to explain why Flores prevailed in the blue enclave, calling out U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) in the process.
“Because these voters stopped seeing your candidate as their lawyer. That’s why. Their message to you was, ‘I’m an American now. I’m here. Be my lawyer, not the lawyer for the migrants showing up in my backyard.’
“Every month, I see a new poll reporting how much Latinos despise the woke term Latinx. It’s about as popular with them as a reboot of Speedy Gonzales. Even the country’s oldest Latino civil rights group came out against it, yet AOC keeps defending it, saying, ‘gender is fluid. Language is fluid.’ Yes, and Latino voters are ‘fluid,’ and more of them now than ever are identifying as Republican.”

“So are Asian Americans, whose support for Democrats is down 16 points since the last election. A lot of that is because, in the name of achieving equity in schools, Democrats in deep-blue cities have made it a mission to eliminate the advanced programs at which Asian kids excel. Asian parents said, ‘okay, I wish all kids well, I’m not a racist, but I need someone who acts like my lawyer,’ Maher asserted.
“If you’re a parent and wanted schools to reopen a lot sooner than they did after COVID shutdowns, or think maybe your kid is getting a bad education partly because it’s nearly impossible to fire a lousy teacher, yeah, you’re going to say, ‘congratulations, teachers, you’ve got yourself a good lawyer. The Democratic Party’s always got your back 100%. But I’ve noticed my kid is kind of an idiot. So I may be looking for new representation.'”
Among other things, Maher also slammed the Biden administration for considering cancelling more student debt and Dems generally for claiming that men can get pregnant.
Speaking for those who decided not to pursue a university degree (or by extension, those who paid off their loans), Maher noted that “why should the people who didn’t go to college and make less money subsidize the people who did go and make more? ‘You want me to chip in some liberal arts college can build a bigger rock wall? You’re not my lawyer…'”
Maher’s premise may be off because many high-school graduates who have opted for a career in the skilled trades make a lot more money than your college graduate with an art history or gender studies degree, but his point is nonetheless is well taken.
“As with all these issues, the wavering voter is saying to her lawyer, the Democratic Party, ‘hey, so happy for you that you have so many other clients, and you care so much about their problems, and all the pro bono work that you do, but you’re supposed to be my lawyer…”

Still obsessed with Trump, Maher concluded his oration by demanding that the partisan J6 committee prevent the 45th president from running in 2024.
During the same episode, Maher — who seems to like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (but probably would never vote for him) — claimed that ” if Trump could just let go of the election, which he can’t, he can win this so easy because he can win just on Drag Queen Story Hour,” Fox News reported.

“Anybody could beat Biden,” Maher also said. “Trump might be the one guy who can lose to Biden. With DeSantis, you’re right because he’s a winner. He runs the third-largest state. Trump is a hotel greeter who lost. His insurrection failed.”
In a previous episode, Maher defended Washington Commanders defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio who was hit with a $100,000 fine and had to apologize for tweeting (in a subsequently deleted message) “would love to understand ‘the whole story’ about why the summer of riots, looting, burning and the destruction of personal property is never discussed but [the J6 riot] is?”
He expressed similar views that January 6 was a “dust up at the Capitol” compared to the 2020 civil unrest at a presser before having to backtrack.
Del Rio “has a right to be wrong. In America, you have the right to be wrong…fining people for an opinion — I am not down with that.”
