Russell Brand applauds Fox News, Tucker Carlson for willingness to criticize ‘Big Tech, corporations’

Russell Brand is applauding Fox News host Tucker Carlson for giving airtime to left-wingers such as Glenn Greenwald and “dyed-in-the-wool Democrat” Jimmy Dore, a select few commentators on that ideological side who are willing to express disapproval of Biden administration policies as well as neo-lib censorship and warmongering.

“I think it’s interesting that the only place where a leftist pundit can go on TV and criticize the Democrat Party and inventory the nature of the corruption that we’re currently experiencing is Fox News,” Brand insisted. “The Democrat Party is run by the same oligarchs that run the Republican Party.”

The British actor and comedian, who presides over a YouTube channel with nearly six million subscribers, was once an aggressive and rude leftist, and now regularly delivers populist-themed monologues that are very fair-minded in which he often catalogs the failings of globalism and the shortcomings of the “immoral” mainstream media.

“Isn’t it interesting that Tucker Carlson is the only person that have like Glenn Greenwald on, he’s the only person that will attack Big Business, and lots of you that are like left-leaning or Democrat in your previous biases or just in your persuasion will think that Tucker Carlson maybe is a, what is someone call him once a ‘human boat shoe’? A lot of people don’t care for Tucker Carlson, but what interests me is that Fox News used to be a channel that we continually berated and baited when it was like Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity and all those guys,” Brand explained.

“We used to torment them about their stance on numerous issues. But nowadays, if you want a channel that’s gonna criticize big business, Big Tech, the corporations, mainstream media, generally, and broadly, peculiarly, you’re most likely to find that on Fox News. Why don’t we have a leftist mainstream media outlet that would showcase a voice like Jimmy Dore’s? Why is that? What has become of the left?” Brand wondered rhetorically.

Playing clips of a Dore anti-Biden rant from “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Brand asserted that Carlson is one of the few journalists who isn’t a cheerleader for further American involvement in the hostilities in eastern Europe, which is perhaps why he gives a platform to those on the left who have the same viewpoint.

“You can decide for yourself,” Brand told his audience, “whether or not you think the mainstream media and American government amplified the impact of the war between Russia and Ukraine to justify price hikes, economic inequality, intransigence in government — do you think this is all as a result of the war between Russia and Ukraine, or do you think there is ineptitude, inefficiency, and corruption elsewhere in American political culture.”

“Why can’t Jimmy Dore go on MSNBC and talk like that, CNN and talk like that?

Brand also accused the Democrat Party, which at one time was an anti-war, pro-working man and woman organization, of being “bereft of ideas” other than stirring up divisiveness, including trying to portray Vladimir Putin as Trump 2.0.

In this context, Brand — who is no Trump fan — nonetheless called out Hillary Clinton for still pushing the Russia collusion myth.

Canceling Dore or Greenwald is part of the Democrat-allied corporate media divide-and-conquer strategy, Brand implied.

“Voices from the left ultimately share a great many interests with Tucker Carlson’s audience” because both cohorts share an interest in personal freedom, collective community freedom, and economic freedom under the U.S. Constitution, he said.

“The minute we begin to recognize that we have more in common with one another than that which separates us, then we’ll be much less easy to control.”

Brand also agreed with Dore about the so-called uniparty, i.e., the blame-gaming political establishment of both the Dems and the GOP who purportedly follow the lead of the billionaire class.

“Ultimately, if you want to change the quality for ordinary Americans, ordinary British people, or ordinary people all over the world, you have to attack institutional corruption, and the relationships that exist between unelected globalist bodies, Big Tech, Big Business, mainstream media, and whatever stooge state government happens to be operating in your country at this time,” Brand claimed.

“The real victims of economic sanctions against Russia are Americans,” Brand added.

Brand’s soliloquy won praise from Greenwald himself.

“Here’s Russell Brand — long a vocal leftist, including as a vehement supporter of JeremyCorbyn — describing how many of the most vital perspectives are now aired only on Fox and Tucker Carlson, while the rest of US corporate media churn out neoliberal and militaristic pablum,” Greenwald wrote on Twitter.
