A meme of Kyle Rittenhouse crying in court superimposed at a gas station to signify the grief many Americans are feeling at the pump is making the rounds online.

And while the highly emotional moment the 18-year-old broke down on the stand describing events that led up to him taking two lives while defending himself against a host of attackers is far from funny, the fact that Rittenhouse himself shared the meme proved too much for his detractors.

Rittenhouse was successful in his fight to stay out of prison for the rest of his life, but the emotional toll the trial had on the teen is incalculable and it appears that he has maintained a sense of humor and is willing to take what amounts to a lemon — being mocked for the outpouring of raw emotion — and turn it into lemonade… as opposed to Lemon Drops.

“No, it’s not Lemon Heads.. it’s the burning hole in my pocket thanks to a Joe Biden presidency..,” Rittenhouse tweeted:

Not lost here is the impact skyrocketing gas prices continue to have on Americans who struggle to fill their tanks while President Joe Biden seems to be more committed to blaming the price hike on Russian President Vladimir Putin rather than easing their pain.

It doesn’t appear that Rittenhouse created the meme, but in sharing it he refused to allow himself to be the butt of someone’s joke… which seemed to trigger the left almost as much as defending himself instead of allowing a Black Lives Matter mob stomp him in the street.

Mary L. Trump, who few had awareness of until she tried to capitalize on her uncle Donald Trump’s fame by feeding the liberal critical soundbites, was among those who commented.

“If I killed another human being — even if it was an accident or I believed it was in self-defense – -my life would be destroyed. This sociopath just revealed himself to be the murderer most of us already know he is. Yet the Republican Party embraces him as a hero,” she tweeted.

But Trump was far from alone… here are a few other responses disparaging Rittenhouse for making fun of himself:

Which is not to say that he didn’t have supporters, as seen here:
