Atrocities being committed by Russian forces invading Ukraine are receiving new coverage, thanks to modern technology enabling ordinary people to share raw footage to the world at large.

Americans with a social media presence are slowly getting used to waking up and seeing fresh footage of the latest victims of the Russian onslaught on Ukraine’s people ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin, as the globally connected nature of our world in 2022 enables such unfiltered direct communication via the internet.
Ordinary people are able to take advantage of the internet to share their stories, using technology such as Elon Musk’s Starlink terminals to get around Russian attempts to cut off communications with the outside world.
The shocking atrocities being caught on camera, however, are finally starting to get broader coverage in the larger media companies, as individuals with influence and reach get involved and help spread the ugly truth. On Wednesday, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) shared a video of the victims of another Russian massacre of civilians in line to get bread outside Chernihiv:
In every previous conflict #Putin has dealt with military setbacks by using escalation to achieve his battlefield objectives
And just now he murdered at least 10 innocent people standing in a bread line in #Chernihiv as part of that escalation pic.twitter.com/ZO14m6lMZI

A major German news outlet, ZDF, posted footage captured by one of their drones outside Mariupol, allegedly showing Russians executing a civilian surrendering with his hands clearly in the air:
#Putin spricht von einer Spezialaktion in der #Ukraine, die sich nicht gegen Zivilisten richte. Eine Drohne filmte allerdings wenige Kilometer westlich von Kiew, wie ein Zivilist von offenbar russischen Soldaten erschossen wird. #ZDFfrontal exklusiv, mehr zum Krieg 21.15 Uhr @ZDF pic.twitter.com/1FDdD7v9Ww

Another video from the early days of the invasion shows Russians shooting at a man and his son and their dogs in a car near Ivankov, filmed by the son.
The son courageously dragged his father into the undergrowth desperately trying to save him to no avail. “Please don’t die, I’m begging you,” he begs his dying father.
The Russian response has been to utterly deny all claims without providing any proof, such as its insistence that a pregnant woman shown being carried to a hospital after being injured in a Russian airstrike was actually a “staged provocation,” in a tweet that has since been removed. Russia has even gone so far as to claim that Ukrainians are shelling themselves (a favorite go-to excuse of Russia’s friend Serbia when shelling Bosnian civilians in the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s), once again without offering any evidence.
The Kremlin’s attempts to shift the blame for the atrocities committed by its forces, often under direct orders from commanders, have been met with dismissal from the west, which no longer appears to have the patience for an endless parade of outrageous and baseless lies, such as the incredible claim that Russia’s war in Ukraine is to prevent.. a war in Ukraine.
Perhaps the most poignant, succinct (and certainly blunt) response to Russia’s denial of deliberately targeting civilians and widely seen raw footage of shocking war crimes has come from the boxing champion that became Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, who told reporters: “Bullsh*t!”
