The Florida legislature passed the Parental Rights in Education bill this week, which bans classroom instruction on “sexual orientation” or “gender identity” in kindergarten through third grade.
Under the guise of protecting children, the LGBTQ community pushed back by misrepresenting the legislation as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill – the word “gay” is not mentioned in the language – and pressured Disney CEO Bob Chapek to publicly denounce the bill. After initially resisting, Chapek eventually caved to the mob, which prompted Gov. Ron DeSantis to blast the executive and call out Disney’s hypocritical relationship with Communist China.
By yielding to the left, Chapek placed himself and his “woke” company in the middle of a firestorm, and DeSantis’ press secretary, Christina Pushaw drove the flames even higher when she said in a tweet posted on her own time, “If you’re against the Anti-Grooming Bill, you are probably a groomer or at least you don’t denounce the grooming of 4-8 year old children.”
Pushaw also shared a letter from a Florida mom to the Disney CEO that summarized the concerns of many parents in the Sunshine State.
“I am a simple stay at home mom of four children. My family is not important to you. Until this morning, we owned a small amount of Disney stock, tried to get to Disney World every couple of years, and have loved all things Disney for a long time,” the letter began. “Today, our relationship with Disney came to an end. If Disney is not going to support protecting young children from activist teachers and predators, then we cannot trust Disney any longer with our children.”

“I know the little amount of Disney stock we sold this morning will have no impact on your company whatsoever, but we will not be part of a company that seems to care more about appeasing a woke twenty something twitter mob than keeping young children safe,” the mother continued.
After explaining what the Florida bill’s intention was, she added: “This isn’t controversial: it’s about protecting children ages five to eight. My youngest child is seven years old. She loves princesses and baby dolls, has huge gaps and missing teeth when she smiles, thinks her teachers are rock stars, and hugs everyone.. She is in first grade. There is absolutely no situation where sexual instruction is appropriate for her. None. I would be very concerned if any adult thought otherwise.”
“How does a CEO of a company that caters to families and children oppose a bill that protects your children?” the woman asked. “We would have been content for Disney not to weigh in at all, but now that you have, I’m sure you realize there is no gray area on this issue: you either support protection of young children or you support groomers or activists.”
Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
This is excellent…one day people will realize that companies like @Disney only care about one thing…profits…they will never care about your kids, your values, or your rights as parents…good for @GovRonDeSantis for standing up to them…. https://t.co/AWM7GXTnqS

Spineless CEOs (and Republican Politicos) aren’t going to like it much when a million “stay at home moms” are fully lit up. https://t.co/E3raH3Fr2n
