Elon Musk calls for immediate increase in domestic oil for good of US, against his own business interests

With gas prices set to explode through the stratosphere as a result of the Russia-Ukraine conflict adversely affecting the domestic oil supply on top of President Joe Biden’s disastrous energy policies, billionaire Elon Musk is urging quick and dramatic action from Washington.

In a tweet that immediately drew attention, the Tesla co-founder and CEO put his country before profits from his company which is a leading producer of electric vehicles by calling for more domestic fossil fuel production.

“Hate to say it, but we need to increase oil & gas output immediately.” wrote Musk. “Extraordinary times demand extraordinary measures.”

“Obviously, this would negatively affect Tesla, but sustainable energy solutions simply cannot react instantaneously to make up for Russian oil & gas exports,” he added in a follow-up tweet.

Musk’s admission that sustainable energy isn’t going to offset the coming severe effects on the oil supply and prices isn’t likely to sit well with “woke” climate change zealots who in Biden and his embrace of the Green New Deal, have a champion of their radical transformational agenda not only in the White House, but in charge of U.S. energy policy.

Biden who on his first day in office effectively declared war on the domestic energy industry by canceling the Keystone XL pipeline has done little about the pain at the pump being felt by Americans who are already battered by the highest inflation rates in decades and has been slow to act to mitigate the disruption in the oil supply from Russia, one of the world’s top producers of the black gold.

Musk’s tweet drew strong reactions on Twitter.

“Everyone in the world knows this … but Joe Biden,” wrote Republican Senator Josh Hawley.

“Founder of electric car company says drill baby drill!” Tweeted Wa Po columnist Marc Thiessen, a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush.

Senior Fox News political analyst Brit Hume wrote, “Wisdom from man whose company would not be helped by what he is recommending.”

Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert pointed out that Biden’s energy policies are helping to fuel Putin’s invasion of Ukraine: “America is funding Russia’s war by buying Russian oil and gas rather than producing our own.”

Others took to Twitter to weigh in on Musk’s message to Biden.

If Biden’s track record is any indication, Musk’s plea will likely fall on deaf ears. In fact, if the words of the White House press secretary are viewed through a purely political lens, the hostilities between Russia and its overmatched neighbor are actually beneficial to Democrats who now have a scapegoat for skyrocketing gas prices in an election year.

The billionaire entrepreneur also expressed his best wishes for both Ukraine as well as “sympathies” to ordinary Russian people who have no voice in their country.

Musk also has referred to the “leader” of the free world as a “damp sock puppet in human form.”

It speaks volumes about the rapidly worsening inflation situation under Biden that a guy who makes his living off of selling sustainable energy products is speaking out on the need for a course correction on domestic oil and gas production.
