Stacey Abrams likens herself and her movement to Zelenskyy, heroic Ukrainians under attack

Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams is raising eyebrows with her latest ridiculous remarks, this time seeking to capitalize on the attention being paid to the Ukraine-Russia crisis by making it all about her.

Abrams was bombarded with mockery after she went on “The Daily Show” to discuss her second run for the Peach State governorship – she lost in 2018 – and incredulously likened herself and other far-left progressive Democrats to the heroism of the Ukrainian people who have been invaded, insinuating that she was somehow like Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a man who is in danger of his life from the Russian army.

The sore loser, whose refusal to accept the verdict of voters is second only to Hillary Clinton among Democrats, chatted with host Trevor Noah when she made her ludicrous comparison of her movement to people who are fighting for their very lives as the red menace bears down on them.

“We are a stronger nation when we allow people to participate,” Abrams said in a video clip that is drawing attention on social media. “And if we ever doubted that, the war that Putin is waging against Ukraine, President Zelenskyy said it, and I’m going to paraphrase him, probably poorly,” Abrams said. “He said this isn’t a war on Ukraine, this is a war on democracy in Ukraine.”

“When we allow democracy to be overtaken by those who want to choose who can be heard, and those choices are not based on anything other than animus or inconvenience, then that is wrong,” she added.

With many Democrats now tripping over each other to make Ukraine a partisan issue, none have made any more offensive and shameless remarks than Abrams whose lack of seriousness about the terrible and tragic situation on the ground that is destroying lives and homes is truly beyond the pale.

Twitter reacted at Abrams’ insulting suggestion and it wasn’t pretty.

“Stacey Abrams would be pushing to the front of the line to leave Ukraine on a private jet, courtesy of her mentor Oprah. She’s nothing like Zelinsky. He’s all about his people – not himself or his own political ambitions. What an ego that woman has!” wrote one user who jabbed at her super-sized ego.

Another noted that Ukraine has voter id laws, a major fixture of Abrams’ whining.

Kelly Loeffler, Georgia’s former Republican senator tweeted, “Stacey Abrams is so self-absorbed that she just compared her push to undermine fair elections with Ukraine’s invasion by a murderous dictator.”

“Stacey Abrams comparing her crusade against popular voting provisions like voter ID to Ukrainians fighting for their lives is deeply offensive and quite stupid,” quipped former National Republican Senatorial Committee adviser Matt Whitlock.

Other reactions to Abrams’ hijacking of Ukrainian suffering were brutal but hit the mark.

In addition to the constant need to feed her XXXXL ego, Abrams may feel that it is necessary to portray herself in heroic terms after she was instrumental in driving last year’s Major League Baseball All-Star game out of Georgia along with the millions of dollars in revenue that it would have brought to local businesses who may remember that outrage come November.

Then there was this, possibly the definitive image of Abrams, and all of rules are for thee and not for me attitude of Democrats during the hellish two years of COVID.

With her party on the verge of what could be a historic electoral bloodbath, it’s unlikely that even their cynical politicizing of Ukraine is going to save them from a fate that they truly deserve.
