A horrifying video shows two Russian soldiers walking through a crowd in Konotop with their hands in the air after talks about surrendering the city failed. One of the soldiers appeared to be holding a grenade in each hand as the crowd around him yelled “shame.”
The crowd did not seem to care or be intimidated by the soldier’s show of force, telling him not to “walk around showing your grenade off” and bumping into them intentionally as they made their way back to their vehicles.
Watch:
The soldiers were reportedly there to negotiate the surrender of the city with its mayor, Artem Semenikhin, who discussed it with his people in the town square once the servicemen had left. Asking his people whether they wanted to give in, or fight, they responded “fight, of course.”
“They have given us an ultimatum – if we start resisting they will pull the city to pieces with artillery. You say yes then we will fight. Who’s for fighting? I am for fighting! Listen, we should take the decision all together because the artillery is aimed at us already,” the mayor explained.
“Fight, of course,” the crowd responded.
