Liberal hypocrisy has been elevated to an art form in recent years, and no one was better at illustrating it than the anonymous Twitter account known as “Defiant L’s,” which was just nuked from the social media platform for allegedly violating Twitter’s “ban evasion” policy — albeit a short-lived execution.

The account, which routinely posts side-by-side shots of liberal celebrities and politicians directly contradicting themselves, had 350,000 followers before it was pulled from Twitter, sparking fury from right-leaning users who have once again seen their followers disappear in what they claim is yet another platform “purge” of conservative account holders.

Officially, the reason Twitter gave for suspending the account is an allegation that Defiant L’s has evaded previous Twitter bans by creating a new account.

The rule went into effect back in October 2020.

“If an account has been permanently suspended for severe violations of the Twitter Rules, Twitter reserves the right to also permanently suspend any other account we believe the same account holder or entity may be operating in violation of our earlier suspension, regardless of when the other account was created,” reads Twitter’s Ban Evasion Policy.

But, in a statement from the Defiant L’s account holder — posted by popular user, Eliza — Defiant L’s claims it has never been banned by the Twitter police.

“So about an hour ago my account @DefiantLs was suspended,” the statement reads. “The word is ‘ban evasion’ though I’ve never had an account suspended so I’ve never had a ban to evade. Regardless, I’ve appealed the suspension and will keep everyone updated.”

“Have a drink and keeping honking,” DefiantLs added.

The news drove users to look for another explanation, with screenshots of potential Twitter triggers offered up as the real reason Defiant L’s was suspended.

One possibility, according to Kyle Becker, was a split-screen shot of a Hillary Clinton 2016 tweet in which HRC claims, “Computer scientists have apparently uncovered a covert server linking the Trump Organization to a Russian-based bank” juxtaposed against a New York Post headline screaming, “Clinton campaign paid tech workers to dig up Trump-Russia connections.”

Breitbart reporter Allum Bokhari points instead to Defiant L’s tweets about Quntez Brown, a championed BLM activist who was just arrested for attempting to assassinate a Louisville, KY, mayoral candidate.

But according to conservative author and popular “Rubin Report” podcaster Dave Rubin, the final tweet that broke Twitter’s back featured a split-screen of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his two very different thoughts on civil disobedience.

“Big tech is playing wack-a-mole for now, but when the time comes mass bannings and more mainstream accounts will go,” Rubin tweeted.

While many are fuming over the suspension — like Clay Travis, who called the ban “beyond absurd” — liberal Twitter is celebrating the censorship.

Self-proclaimed “Never Trumper” Cheri Jacobus called Defiant L’s a “menace” and claimed she had reported the account last week.

Last year, activist Amy Siskind reported Defiant L’s and encouraged her followers to do the same, which itself should be a violation of Twitter’s policy on abusive behavior, which expressly forbids, “behavior that encourages others to harass or target specific individuals or groups with abusive behavior.”

But the overwhelming support has been for Defiant L’s, as calls to “Free Defiant L’s” rumbled through the Twitterverse.

“What a joke this stupid website is,” tweeted Caleb Hull. “Anyone who exposes libs just gets banned now.”

Ted Cruz called the suspension, “Utterly ridiculous.”

And, according to Jenna Ellis, “The left doesn’t want to be called on their hypocrisy.”

But it was Ben Shapiro who summed up the suspension best: “So @DefiantLs made the crucial error of screenshotting tweets people on the Left didn’t like — and then got suspended for that. Sounds legit.”

But by the looks of things, it wasn’t “legit” at all.

Nineteen hours after the suspension was announced, Defiant L’s reappeared with a simple but striking tweet declaring, “I’m back.”

Less than 15 minutes later, the tweet had received more than 28 thousand likes, with celebrities flocking to welcome the account back.

“It’s about time!” tweeted Fox News weather queen, Janice Dean.

“Rightfully so,” said Five Times August.

No explanation for the suspension has been shared as of this writing.
