Former Fox News anchor Chris Wallace could be having a serious case of buyer’s remorse after defecting from his longtime employer to rival network CNN and storm clouds could be on the horizon following the ouster of president Jeff Zucker according to a bombshell report.
On Friday, Radar Online reported that Zucker’s departure over yet another of the scandals that has plagued the self-proclaimed “most trusted name in news” has left the veteran newsman “irate” and that his “future at the news network is uncertain.” Furthermore, Wallace is said to be “second guessing his decision” to move to CNN, according to the outlet.
In December, Wallace rocked the media world when he abruptly announced that he would be bolting from Fox after eighteen years, shortly afterward, CNN trumpeted the news that they had lured him as the anchor for their new paid digital streaming platform CNN +, a major coup for the media organization that has squandered its credibility and has been hemorrhaging viewers without former President Donald J. Trump to kick around anymore.
We’re thrilled to welcome Chris Wallace to CNN as an anchor for @CNNPlus. His new weekday show will feature interviews with newsmakers across politics, business, sports and culture & will contribute to CNN+’s slate of live programming available at launch. https://t.co/6dgFzBd2QT pic.twitter.com/h8djkxClsB

CNN even quoted its new hire in the press release announcing the news, “I am thrilled to join CNN+. After decades in broadcast and cable news, I am excited to explore the world of streaming,” Wallace said.
He added, “I look forward to the new freedom and flexibility streaming affords in interviewing major figures across the news landscape—and finding new ways to tell stories. As I embark on this adventure, I am honored and delighted to join Jeff Zucker and his great team. I can’t wait to get started.”
But that delight has apparently now dissipated after Zucker stepped down last week amidst fallout over his failure do disclose a consensual relationship with colleague Allison Gollust which was uncovered during the investigation into former anchor Chris Cuomo who was sacked by CNN over abusing his position to assist his disgraced brother, the former governor of New York combat allegations of sexual misconduct.
Radar Online quotes an unnamed TV industry insider who said, “Chris is the type of person who makes it known if he doesn’t like something,”
“He went over there for Zucker and now Zucker is gone. Wallace feels that he has been stiffed. He’s got no staff, no Executive Producer and the guy he gave up a prized gig for has just walked out the door,” the exec added.
The report also shines a light on Wallace’s relationship with Jake Tapper who he reportedly hates along with Washington bureau chief and senior vice president Sam Feist.
“It’s no secret in DC that Wallace hates Jake Tapper and despises Sam Feist,” the source added. “Zucker spun his magic to allay Chris’ concern about the pair, promising that his status as a ‘premiere journalist’ would not be compromised while working out of the DC bureau,” the outlet reported.
With Zucker gone from CNN, there is no longer a buffer between the two rivals and the possibility of a full-blown war breaking out between its top anchors is just one more of the woes that has beset what was once a widely respected news outlet.
Wallace’s plight didn’t elicit much sympathy from Twitter users who took to the platform to weigh in the aftermath of Zucker’s resignation.
If you listen closely👂.. you can hear the pit drop into the bottom of Chris Wallace's stomach for his decision to go over to CNN… What a disaster for him… Makes me smile.🙂#SaveAmerica #AmericaFirst

Wallace, the son of legendary “60 Minutes” newsman Mike Wallace could be up the creek without a paddle and regretting his decision despite the millions that he bagged for jumping ship now that CNN is sinking.
