Democrats and their leftist supporters have become so heavily invested in the “new normal” of COVID authoritarianism that they swarm to attack any who would dare to stray from a belief system that is in many ways similar to a religious cult, especially those who have an elevated media profile.
On Monday, the cult’s wrath was directed at Bill Maher who was shredded by the “shrieking” harpies on “The View” over his blasphemy about the face masks which have been embraced by Democrats over the last two years to the point where they have become a political symbol as well as an expression of a moral superiority that is constantly expressed by liberal scolds.
Maher’s remarks made during the opening monologue of the latest edition of his popular HBO show that “I don’t want to live in your paranoid world anymore, your masked paranoid world,” led to a serious tongue-lashing by an indignant Whoopi Goldberg and her fellow co-hosts who are among those bitterly clinging to the dystopian world that sprung up as a result of the virus.
Goldberg expressed her dismay that “it isn’t just people on the fringe either who are, you know, speaking out like this and over the weekend, Bill Maher made a case for people who are vaccinated, boosted and have been following the rules since all of this started,” as she teed up a clip of Maher’s heresy.

Goldberg then shamed her fellow comic, saying, “That’s not really funny to people who have lost their kids to this vaccine or people who have lost family members, or dear friends to this.”
“It’s just, you know, listen, nobody on the planet really wants to go through this, this is not something we’re doing because it’s sexually gratifying, this is what we’re doing to protect our families and you don’t have to do it, but stay away from everybody because if you are the one who is not paying attention, and you’re coughing and sneezing, you don’t want to… then stay out of the public man, this is not, nobody wants this.”
“I don’t want it,” she continued, “and I think he’s forgetting the people are still at risk who cannot get vaccinated….people who can’t get….little kids under the age of 5, or people with health conditions, how dare you be so flippant man?”
Co-host Sara Haines chimed in to predict that mask-wearing will be the “new normal” likening the wearing of the stifling face coverings to airport security checkpoints after 9/11.
“I think there’s a prudence we’ve learned that the masks, the hand sanitizing, kind of like 9/11 with flying, it’s always going to be here now, there’s a new normal,” she said. “In the beginning post-9/11 people didn’t want to fly and security measures felt like uh, uh how do we do this, you know?”
“And now it’s the norm,” she added. “I think some of the things we’ve learned in this pandemic are going to say the same, I may never ride a subway again without a mask, I may never go indoors to big crowds and never feel comfortable without a mask and that’s up to me to do that.”
Reaction wasn’t favorable to the easily-triggered ladies of “The View” as Twitter weighed in.

Judging from the response from the COVID cultists, Maher and guest Bari Weiss’s defiance of the narrative has resonated with the tens of millions or more who don’t desire to live in the left’s masked paranoid world either.
