An MSNBC anchor apparently has had quite enough of the far-left propaganda channel and is taking a job at a local station instead.
Kendis Gibson is changing networks, too, in his new gig as a morning and noon newscast co-anchor — with Marybel Rodriguez — on WFOR-TV, the CBS Miami affiliate. Both will also handle anchor duties on the upcoming CBS News Miami streaming service.
“I wanted to get away from working in the hyper-partisan 24/7 political news space,” the Emmy-winning journalist told Variety.
“This is a good chance to anchor a newscast that covers the full gamut of the news cycle which I love, including world news, entertainment news, human interest stories and stories important to local communities — and in an awesome city with a big commitment to local news from the top down.”
Gibson was a weekend anchor on MSNBC for three years and has previously worked at CNN and ABC, and for several local network affiliates around the country.
In this particular instance, he is following the opposite career path of many TV hosts who go from a local outlet to a national platform or aspire to.
“We are pleased to welcome Kendis to CBS Miami and have him join our outstanding team of journalists. His extensive experience at both the network and local level, along with his passion for news and community service will make him a great addition to our newsroom as well as our South Florida community,” VP and General Manager Darryll Green announced.
Variety suggested that Gibson joined MSNBC when it was seeking to expand live weekend programming, but recently it has “started to run repeats of streaming opinion programs.”
Ratings-challenged MSNBC spends most of its airtime brooding about the sins of ex-President Donald Trump, obsessing about the events of January 6, 2021, fear-mongering about COVID, and demonizing Republicans generally.

In August 2020, an MSNBC producer posted an open letter on her personal website about why she was quitting her job there.
The then-producer, Ariana Pekary, who reportedly worked for Stop the Hammering host Lawrence O’Donnell and was no fan of Trump, claimed that a divisive “cancer” of sorts was afflicting the content of Trump-loathing MSNBC, as well as other networks, in an effort to drive up viewership.
…As it is, this cancer stokes national division, even in the middle of a civil rights crisis. The model blocks diversity of thought and content because the networks have incentive to amplify fringe voices and events, at the expense of others…
This cancer risks human lives, even in the middle of a pandemic. The primary focus quickly became what Donald Trump was doing (poorly) to address the crisis, rather than the science itself. As new details have become available about antibodies, a vaccine, or how COVID actually spreads, producers still want to focus on the politics. Important facts or studies get buried. This cancer risks our democracy, even in the middle of a presidential election…Context and factual data are often considered too cumbersome for the audience…

Pekary also claimed that a senior producer admitted that “Our viewers don’t really consider us the news. They come to us for comfort.”
