In yet another sign of how the tide has turned against President Joe Biden, the flailing White House occupant was ridiculed on Saturday Night Live, a drastic departure from the long-running show’s one-sided political diatribes against Republicans.
When SNL returned from a monthlong break, viewers were greeted by a cold open featuring comedian James Austin Johnson who delivered a drop dead impersonation of the nation’s 46th president in all of his befuddled glory, urging Americans to do their part to stop the spread of the Omicron variant that has perplexed an administration that was already beset by a host of other problems due to Biden’s policies.
In the skit, Johnson’s Biden blamed the explosion in cases on the debut of the latest Marvel Comics movie, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” which has smashed box office records since it debuted in December with moviegoers turning out in droves to be thrilled by Spidey’s exploits on the big screen in packed theatres across the nation.

“America, I’m here to tell you there’s one simple thing you can do to make this whole virus go away,” the faux Biden declared, “stop seeing Spiderman, just stop seeing Spider-Man.”
“Think about it, when did ‘Spider-Man’ come out?” December 17th,” he said. “When did every single person get Omicron? The week after December 17th. Stop seeing ‘Spider-Man!’”
Johnson then opened the floor to questions from “reporters” in the seats at a White House press conference.
One cast member posing as a reporter asked, “So you think all COVID will end if people stop going to the movies?”
He responded, “I didn’t say don’t go to the movies, I said stop seeing Spider-Man.”
“See anything else,” said the mock POTUS, “I saw the first half hour of “House of Gucci,” referring to the Ridley Scott crime drama on the fashion empire, “that’s more than enough movie for anyone.”
Another SNL cast member/reporter asked, “Is this theory based on any kind of data?”
Johnson replied, “Yes, everyone in America has seen Spider-Man like eight times, everyone in America also has COVID, stop seeing Spider-Man.”
Later in the skit, longtime cast member Pete Davidson appeared as a younger version of Biden, a super cool, tattooed due in shades do deliver a reality check.

“I am Joe Biden from the real universe,” Davidson proclaimed, “the timeline you are all living in is about to collapse, you see it was created as a joke starting in 2016 when the Chicago Cubs won the World Series, now its spiraled out of control and it could explode at any minute.”
“Am I the president in this real world? Asked Johnson.
Davidson responded, “Of course not, did you really think that you’d lose four times and then finally win when you were 78?”
With SNL’s portrayal of Biden being such a dramatic deviation from the years of trashing former President Donald J. Trump, conservatives who may have tuned in can be be forgiven if they also think that they are not in the real universe.
As Biden’s woes continue to pile up and Alec Baldwin having more pressing matters to attend to than revising his over-the-top portrayal of the ex-POTUS, the shift in messaging could be a very bad omen for Democrats in an election year.
