Perhaps as another example of the Democrats’ mantra of never letting a crisis go to waste, President Joe Biden appeared to blame climate change for last week’s devastating Colorado wildfire before going on a tangent about windmills.

Since politics is typically the top priority for the left, he also used the occasion to tout the Build Back Better spending spree, which is currently stalled in the 50-50 U.S. Senate because West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin has expressed grave concern about its massive inflationary impact.

On Friday, Biden toured the hard-hit Boulder County area where a “wind-driven, prairie-grass fire” laid waste to about 6,000 acres and destroyed about 1,000 homes and other buildings, Reuters reported.

The damage from the fire, which is said to be the most destructive in the state’s history, and the cause for which has yet to be determined, is estimated to be in excess of $500 million.

“Fanned by gale-force winds, the flames at times devoured football field-size stretches of drought-parched landscape in seconds,” Reuters reported.

The fire also resulted in the evacuation of about 35,000 people from their homes, according to various reports, and two area residents are missing.

As part of a rambling speech in Louisville, Colo., (which you can review in its entirety), Biden pledged federal resources to rebuild the area pursuant to a national disaster declaration.

“And, you know, we can’t ignore the reality that these fires are being supercharged. They’re being supercharged by a change in the weather,” Biden claimed. He also implied that the effects of extreme drought related to climate change, and “unusually high winds,” constitutes “a blinking code red for our nation.”

In an apparent digression, Biden pivoted to windmills, which seemed of questionable relevance, and may have been inappropriate under the circumstances.

“We’re gonna have windmills, you can — that you’re gonna see that have 100-yard wingspans each — each propeller on that — on that windmill, 100 yards long. So, there’s so much that is gonna be able to be done…”

Biden also made reference to his favorite subject, that being the aforementioned BBB plan, presumably its Green New Deal, renewable energy provisions:

“The reason I’m telling you this is that’s no solace that you lost your home now, but it’s that we’re gonna be able to do a lot of renewable things that allow you to not only rebuild, but afford to rebuild and rebuild better — to build back better than it was before. And it includes billions of dollars for wildfire preparedness, resilience, and response to protect homes and public resources. And, folks, there’s going to be a lot of good jobs we can create. And there’s going to — we’re going to do — by acting boldly.

“You know, but the bottom line here is: We have to summon the courage to do something about it — to build back better as one nation,” the president insisted.
