Gutfeld: Maybe I’m nuts, but did Joe Biden just kind of declare a civil war on America?

President Joe Biden appears to have declared war on roughly 50 percent of the U.S. population, and according to Fox News host Greg Gutfeld, this “should scare the crap out of all of us.”

Speaking Friday on Fox News’ “Gutfeld!” the host drew attention to a disturbing, eerie tweet the president had posted amid the left’s Jan. 6th anniversary festivities on Thursday.

“I have said it many times, and it is no more true or real than when we think about the events of January 6: We are in a battle for the soul of America. A battle that by the grace of God, and by the goodness and greatness of this nation, we will win,” the tweet reads.

From the sounds of it, Gutfeld argued, it seems like the president has declared war on behalf of “the soul of America.” But who exactly has he declared war against, and does it even matter?

Look:

It does matter, the Fox News host noted, because the president’s tweet “implies a good side and a bad side, right, with two teams.” And knowing how often and how much the institutional left demonizes those on the right, this means that “if you’re watching this show and you like this show, you’re probably on the bad team.”

So who’s on the good team?

“Him and Jill? Him and Kamala? Him and his imaginary friend Walter the talking celery stick? Is it Liz Cheney? If she were any more of a phony Democrat, she’d get an extra vote in 2020,” Gutfeld wondered aloud, throwing in a Cheney joke.

FYI, if “we” does include Liz Cheney, it likely includes her father as well, given as even he — a man once despised by the entire left — has since become a “resistance hero.”

What’s clear, Gutfeld continued, is that “we” certainly doesn’t include all Americans.

“It can’t be all Americans, right, because then his premise for that speech wouldn’t make any sense. And the special day of commemoration wouldn’t be necessary because we’d all be unified and he’d be a beloved president and we’d all be dancing naked in a meadow like Brian Kilmeade and Steve Doocy on ketamine at the Lilith Fair. Those were the days,” he said.

His point was that if the president truly cared about all Americans, he and his administration wouldn’t be engaging in such endless gaslighting about those on the other side of the political aisle.

In the past year, he’s accused Republicans of trying to initiate Jim Crow 2.0 and described them as “bullies and merchants of fear” and “peddlers of lies” who are worse than the “Confederates.”

He’s also demonized the unvaccinated and portrayed the entire right as some sort of white supremacist movement. All these statements have been lies. So has his description of the Jan. 6th riot as an “insurrection.”

“He’s made this claim on a fabricated commemoration targeting his political adversaries, and Democrats were saying it’s worse than Pearl Harbor and 9/11. Yes, that might be the worst comparison since the NFL is like slavery. But Joe’s defined himself against something that doesn’t even exist. A white supremacist movement. A violent insurrection. None of that is real,” Gutfeld noted.

Yet, the Fox News host continued, the president is defining himself and his administration against these fictional threats. Why? In part to distract from his abysmal ratings.

Citing data from a recent Economist/YouGov poll, Gutfeld rightly noted that only 11 percent of adults view the president as a strong leader. A 57 percent majority perceive him as the exact opposite.

This matters given as the midterms are quickly approaching. In fact, some conservative commentators such as Ben Shapiro have speculated that the Jan. 6th fixation is all about drumming up fear against Republicans so that the American people only vote for Democrats.

If it’s indeed true that it’s all just a ploy to distract and deceive, “that’s pretty gross,” Gutfeld said.

“Maybe I’m nuts, but did Joe just kind of declare a civil war on a sizable portion of America? … There are people in his White House who believe we’re evil, you and me, because you didn’t vote for them. Maybe you voted for the other guy, who knows. And now Joe uses Jan. 6 to declare a war over the soul of a country,” he added.

It seems, he continued, like another “fake emergency,” i.e., another lie. Except that this Biden lie — one of so many lies — is extremely dangerous.

“But I guess when you collapse Afghanistan, spike inflation and crime and can’t control corona, all that’s left is creating a fake emergency. It seems like that’s what we have right now,” he said.

“And when I say we, I mean, we the people, as in all Americans, and we all know that there’s no battle for the soul of this country. But the fact that the president says it’s so should scare the crap out of all of us.”
