Arina Bloom posted a TikTok video recently informing viewers that she was fired from her job as a flight attendant for United Airlines after someone made an anonymous complaint about videos she has been posting that were related to that role.
Bloom had posted about 20 videos while in uniform, sharing industry secrets like that the airline does not clean the plane in between flights, according to the New York Post. Frequent flyers may argue that’s not much of a secret.
In the video, the despondent flight attendant said she “was forced to resign” after the complaint, explaining through tears that United has to “take some action” for every complaint they receive.
“My airline was pretty much aware of my social media platform, they even commented on my video back in August so it’s not like I was hiding something,” Bloom said, adding, “But all of a sudden in December it became a problem.”
After stating that her case involved about 20 different videos, she said, “I got in trouble for every single video where I appeared in my uniform which I do understand, every airline has their own rules.”

“How are you going to work for an airline you’re proud of and never post a picture in your entire life,” she said, after noting that there are countless numbers of social media posts from flight attendants in their uniforms.
“I’m pretty sure this person is watching me right now and I have to tell you, my friend, you should be proud of yourself because you really got me… you really got me this time,” Bloom said, before remarking on all the stress she was now dealing with as Christmas was just a few days away. “Just forget about the holidays.”
Bloom said she deleted all the videos referenced in the hope that it would help her save her job, to no avail.
“Although I do feel guilty over some of my content and I promise that I will never do it again, I really think that overall my page was positive and I was just showing how happy I am to be a part of this airline,” she said. “I personally think I was a great free advertisement, truly tried to inspire others to join [the] aviation industry.”
In a follow up video, Bloom insisted that she had not done anything wrong and said she was forced to resign immediately, having been given no warning beforehand about her actions. She also said a union representative did try to help, before suggesting that while airlines are currently strict with their social media policies, she sees this changing in the next five years because it’s all so new.
@arina.bloomThank you to everybody who messaged me and tried to help. I’m reading everything and I take your advice!!! Sometimes 😉♬ original sound – Arina Bloom
Somewhat surprisingly, social media users had little sympathy for Bloom, although one person did write, “United Airlines you really dropped the ball on this! She really showed lots of people the wonders of working in aviation.”
Here’s a sampling of responses that took a different approach to the story from Twitter:
