Shocking home surveillance footage captured in the dead of night showed a man throwing repeated punches at a woman before dragging her out to the street against her will.

The 14-second Ring doorbell footage captured around 3 a.m. on Wednesday assisted North Carolina Police in locating and arresting a 32-year-old man who allegedly was responsible for punching the woman about eight times as she moaned on a bystander’s front porch, according to a press release by the City of Charlotte.

The disturbing video began as the woman raced to the door and yelled “Hey!” She managed to pound on the door twice before the man ran up behind her, grabbed her, and forced her to the ground. The man yelled at the woman as he beat her up though his words were largely unintelligible.

***Warning: Graphic Video***

“It is a violent attack. It is imperative that people see this and help identify the people,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Captain Joel McNelly said during a news conference on Wednesday, according to a report by WRAL.

Mecklenburg County Sheriff detained suspect Louis Lamontrez Meadows on Thursday morning on charges including assault on a female and first-degree kidnapping. The victim was also located and transported to a safe location.

The homeowner – who did not want to be publically named – allegedly saw a slipper and a red wig in front of her house and checked the security cameras to see what had happened. She called the police as soon as she saw the footage.

Some of the reactions to the video were equally disturbing with one person expressing more concern for possible retaliation if the suspect gets out than concern for the victim of the beat down.

But another person on Twitter tried to set his priorities straight.

Inmate records at Mecklenburg County Jail indicate that Louis Lamontrez Meadows was detained in October 2019 on charges of second-degree trespass and injury to real property.
