New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio’s replacement is not a fan of his conniving, underhanded use of a COVID vaccine mandate, claiming it’s essentially ‘a real big eff you’ to him.
“I think for the outgoing mayor to announce something like this knowing that the implementation and enforcement would entirely be the responsibility of the next mayor is a real big eff you,” said incoming Mayor Eric Adams in a statement to the New York Post.
The mandate itself, which affects over 184,000 businesses in the city, is set to be implemented on December 27, or four days before Adams takes the reins.
It is unclear how any business that chooses not to comply with the mandate will be punished, likely part of the reason that wildly unpopular de Blasio left the heavy lifting of enforcing the mandate up to Adams. The new mayor has yet to take a firm position on the mandate, claiming that he will “evaluate” it alongside the “science, efficacy and the advice of health professionals.”
However, an anonymous source told the Post that any 11th-hour moves by de Blasio are subject to be overturned, which would be good news for all of the businesses out there that object to vaccine mandates, or mandates of any kind.
Twitter had some things to say about Adams, de Blasio, and the debacle of a mandate:
Mayor Elect Adams seems like a man of principal and common sense.
He can just send a Tweet saying he will revoke this mandate in January 1. The hysteria will be over and De Blasio will be forgotten.
But what do I know…Someone is probably polling his response.

If Adams is smart, reversing all the draconian DeBlasio mandates would buy him a boatload of goodwill.

He is leaving office no citizen in New York should take this seriously!!! In fact New York citizens should just say no and move on!

Why? When Adams takes over on January 1 he could cancel all of the mandates this commie gave NYC, but adams already said he won’t. NYers did this to themselves.
