Anti-Israel propagandists are working overtime on social media after police in Jerusalem shot and killed a knife-wielding man on Saturday.

A Jerusalem-based correspondent for the far-left Nation magazine, for example, shared a selectively edited and, as such, misleading video of what he captioned, “Israeli occupation forces shoot a Palestinian young man near Damascus Gate in occupied Jerusalem.”

“I share this video with so much hesitation, mainly worried about his loved ones. But it’s important to document, to expose the oblivious world to the state-sanctioned shoot-to-kill attitude of the Zionists. This is not normal, it’ll never be. It should enrage you…,” Mohammed El-Kurd said in a follow up tweet.

Caution: Violent content:

The Twitter post, and others like it, omitted mentioning that the man had stabbed an Israeli pedestrian before the cops intervened to stop what appeared to be a terrorist attack. The victim, who may have been targeted because of the way he was dressed, was not seriously injured.

“The two officers killed the suspected terrorist after he stabbed an ultra-Orthodox man in the neck, moderately to seriously wounding him, on a street near the capital’s Damascus Gate, then attempted to attack the officers. The suspect was in Israel illegally and had been arrested for incitement in 2019,” the Times of Israel detailed. “The shooting of the stabber as he lay on the ground drew protests from lawmakers in Arab Israeli parties. ”

“You may have seen a video of a Palestinian man being shot without showing what he did moments before that – stab a civilian and attack a police officer,” Jerusalem Post Lahav Harkov asserted on social media.

Watch:

“Palestinian stabbing attacks against Israelis, many carried out by assailants with no known affiliation to militant groups, have occurred sporadically since 2015, a year after Israeli-Palestinian peace talks collapsed,” Reuters explained in the context of this latest attack.

“Palestinians want the eastern part of Jerusalem as capital of a future state. Israel captured that territory, including the Old City, in the 1967 Middle East war and annexed it in a move not recognized internationally. Israel says the entire city is its eternal and indivisible capital.”

“Palestinian officials condemned the assailant’s death and said it amounted to an execution.” Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas classified the incident as a “documented war crime.”

Watch a report from I24 News:

Reporting on a similar stabbing incident and outcome in mid-November, the Associated Press noted that “Palestinians have carried out dozens of stabbing, shooting and car-ramming attacks targeting Israeli civilians and security personnel in recent years.”

While an investigation is underway the country’s Justice Ministry to determine if the cops acted properly, “The officers acted resolutely, ending the incident by preventing a larger attack on both civilians and officers,” Border Police Commander Amir Cohen said, according to The Jerusalem Post. Similarly, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett insisted the cops acted “quickly and with determination, as is expected of them.”

“The right-wing factions within the Bennett-led Israeli government all voiced their support of the officers,” the news outlet added.

Anti-Israel sentiment on the left and among globalist institutions is often a proxy for anti-Semitism. Many of the Jewish state’s political adversaries are unwilling to acknowledge that it is only functioning democracy, albeit often a messy one, in the Middle East, and one which has developed diplomatic and economic relations with a several of its Muslim-majority neighbors thanks to the Trump-brokered Abraham Accords peace agreements.

It is also a country that has to stay on full alert to fend off terrorism of all kinds, including the mass rocket attacks from Hamas-controlled Gaza that occurred last spring.

While any country is subject to legitimate criticism, Israel’s foes also seem unaware that about 20 percent of its population is of Arab heritage, and the Bennett-led coalition government that ousted, at least for now, longtime PM Benjamin Netanyahu would have only have formed with the participation of an Arab political party.

Despite conventional presumptions, legal scholars have disagreed over whether the term occupation, moreover, actually applies in this case, especially since throughout history, territory all over the world has changed hands as a result of armed conflict. In this instance, the disputed territories fell under Israel’s control after it fought a defensive war.

In an article about the anti-Israel Boycott, Disinvestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement is hyperventilating over the fact the Miss Universe pageant is currently underway in Israel, Breitbart’s Joel Pollak observed the following:

The BDS movement aims to equate Israel with apartheid South Africa, whose white minority regime was brought down, in part, through being completely shut out from the world. However, Israel is the only country BDS singles out for criticism, leading many to conclude that the movement is not just anti-Israel, but antisemitic.

The BDS movement cannot properly be said to be pro-Palestinian. It does nothing to help the Palestinian economy; in fact, it has hurt Palestinian workers when companies leave Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) and lay off Palestinian employees.

It does not encourage peace and negotiation between Israel and the Palestinians; instead, by demonizing Israel (and Israel alone), BDS effectively encourages violent groups in Palestinian society to continue attacking Israelis and provoking war….

Pollak praised Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane for participating in the competition despite pressure from BDS activists.

Many Twitter users are taking a dim view of The Nation correspondent’s rush to judgment. Here is a sampling:
