While many Americans across the country have been riding the vaccine mandate roller coaster with their jobs in limbo due to oppressive vaccine mandates, actor and director George Clooney admitted that he can cherry-pick the parts he takes as money is no longer a driving factor in his decision making.
When asked if he thought he had enough money now, the former “ER” star confessed that he once turned down a single day’s gig that would have paid $35 million dollars.
“Well, yeah. I was offered $35m for one day’s work for an airline commercial, but I talked to [my wife] about it and we decided it’s not worth it,” the 60-year-old actor told The Guardian. “It was [associated with] a country that, although it’s an ally, is questionable at times, and so I thought: ‘Well, if it takes a minute’s sleep away from me, it’s not worth it.’”
The actor – who clearly lives in his own bubble – did not mention his stance on the millions of Americans losing sleep over making a choice between an irreversible jab and their job. Instead, he explained that his attitude toward acting has changed and he is trying to focus his energy on enjoying life.
“In general, there just aren’t that many great parts – and, look, I don’t have to act. My wife and I had this conversation when I turned 60 this summer. I said: ‘I can still bounce around pretty good, and we both love what we do. But we gotta make sure we don’t book ourselves silly.’ So, part of it is just us making sure we live our lives,” he explained in the London interview about his new film “The Tender Bar.”
His evolving attitude on his career doesn’t keep him isolated from politics and he admitted he uses his notoriety to speak out on political issues.
“But I would be so ashamed if, for instance, in this last Trump regime, I hadn’t been on the record of being against some of the horrible things he’d done. My kids would be like: ‘So, they were putting kids in cages and you didn’t say anything?’ The blowback is nowhere near as bad as the shame I’d feel,” Clooney explained.
Despite his claim to abhor poor treatment of kids, he does not appear to have made any public statements about the treatment of migrant children who have reportedly been treated so badly under President Joe Biden’s administration that the youth have resorted to self-harm and experienced panic attacks at the migrant holding facilities.

Clooney also recognized the pressures kids can face in life living in the shadow of a famous parent. Clooney has two four-year-old twins with his younger 43-year-old wife Amal Clooney who has a similarly demanding career as a human rights attorney.
“The pressures on a son of a famous man are a lot. But I have an advantage, which is that I’m considerably older, so the competitive juices will be different. I’ll be 75 when my son will be in any way compared to me, so it won’t be the same vibe. Also, it is very important to Amal and me that they grow up knowing that their own path is the only way, and they have nothing to live up to but their own expectations,” Clooney said.
