Tucker Carlson is warning that the doom-and-gloom corporate media is ratcheting up the hysteria and “existential terror” over the latest COVID-19 variant or mutation that could lead to lockdown 2.0. “It’s a whole new pandemic,” he declared.
On the nightly show aired on the Fox News Channel that has become appointment viewing for a significant portion of the U.S. electorate with populist leanings, the host of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” implied that fear-mongering elites want to use this infection to justify a brand-new set of restrictions, vaccines, and lockdowns. And Democrat politics might be at least partially the reason for the panic-button-pushing.
“By now, you’ve probably heard of the terrifying new coronavirus variant that has left the continent of Africa a smoldering husk of human misery. Experts are calling it the omicron variant, omicron being a Greek term that apparently means history-ending apocalypse,” he explained in a semi-satirical manner.
“Consider the nation of Botswana, a landlocked country in southern Africa about the size of France. Yesterday, officials there reported that two people may possibly have died from the omicron variant,” he said.
“Now it’s true that many more people in Botswana died yesterday from malaria, AIDS, diarrhea, drowning, car crashes, choking on peanuts, domestic disputes, agricultural accidents, and also just because, in the end, human beings tend to get old and die,” Carlson continued.
“Statistically, that is a valid observation, but it does not lessen the existential terror of the rest of us feel knowing that omicron exists. No, it certainly doesn’t. As the chairman of the Federal Reserve announced yesterday, thanks to omicron, and not at all due to the criminally reckless decisions that he has made personally, thanks to omicron, our economy is going to be terrible for a long time, and we’re definitely going to need a lot of mail-in ballots in the coming mid-term elections for your safety, of course,” he noted.
“And vaccines, yes, we’re going to need a lot more vaccines. In addition to the two you probably already had, you’re going to need a third vaccine, at least. Pfizer’s orders.”
Carlson then played a montage of histrionics from several media outlets, including one from CNBC where host Jim Cramer wanted to deploy the military to get everyone vaxxed.

“Yeah, have the military run it; the U.S. Army is going to force you to get your third injection. That’s how serious omicron is — this from the guy who demanded you keep your money in Bear Stearns five days before it disappeared completely. So you can definitely trust what he’s saying…,” Carlson quipped.
“Look what’s happening in Botswana tonight. So we’re gonna get more vaccines and ‘lockdowns’ for anyone who resists getting the injection. And we’re not joking this time. omicron is here. It’s a whole new pandemic,” he concluded in a tongue-in-cheek manner.
Carlson is not the only pundit who has suggested that the left wants to exaggerate the omicron risk as a way to justify mail-in balloting for the 2022 congressional midterm elections to offset expected Democrat losses.
Carlson tossed it to ex-New York Times reporter Alex Berenson, a journalist who has been banned from Twitter for expressing skepticism about how public health officials have handled the pandemic, to assess the situation. In the intro, Carlson described Berenson as “the world’s premier COVID reporter.”

“A: They have no idea if this variant is more dangerous or less dangerous and, in fact, the people in South Africa who have treated people with that say it’s less dangerous. They say it’s milder,” Berenson claimed.
“B: It looks like a spike in cases that looks scary about a week ago or ten days ago in South Africa may have been due to an artifact in testing, meaning the South Africans started to accept antigen tests which are cheaper and easier to perform, and there just may have been a whole bump of those, so this might not even spread more rapidly. (C) If it is as different as they’re saying, vaccinations aren’t going to work very well against it…,” he continued.

“And the real reason for it is probably twofold A: Nobody wants to get boosters — threefold. B: the vaccine mandates are collapsing, and now all three of them have been stayed by federal judges…so there’s no mandates right now in the United States, and people don’t want to get their kids vaccinated, and the powers that be are very well aware that vaccines are failing, and they want to blame this thing…,” Berenson insisted.
As the segment ended, Carlson chided public health experts for their seeming lack of attention to COVID treatments, especially since fully vaxxed persons are becoming infected. “What the hell? Where is the treatment,” he wondered.
Berenson responded that a new drug from Pfizer looks promising in early results.
