At least two Minneapolis-area Best Buy stores are the latest victims in a flash mob that ransacked the premises, providing a possible alternative meaning to the supply chain crisis and the associated empty shelves.
Similar dystopian looting unfortunately occurred in San Francisco, Los Angles, and other lawless areas controlled by pandering, soft-on-crime Democrats on the traditional big shopping day known as Black Friday and before.
“A group of 20 to 30 people entered a Best Buy near Burnsville Center about 8 p.m. and stole electronics, then fled before police arrived, according to the Burnsville Police Department. No weapons were used, and no injuries were reported. The same night, 10 to 12 adults and children stole ‘high-value items’ from the Best Buy near Maplewood Mall about 8:10 p.m., Maplewood police said,” the Twin Cities Pioneer Press reported.
As alluded to above, the suspects in both incidents who evidently had no intention of buying at Best Buy had already fled with their haul by the time cops showed up.
As BPR has previously noted, downgrading shoplifting or the equivalent from a felony to a misdemeanor and catch-and-release, so-called bail reform, in general, has turned jails into revolving doors, leaving the community, i.e., law-abiding consumers and business owners from all backgrounds, to suffer.

Non-proactive, politicized policing, as well as undermanned law enforcement agencies, have also contributed to the crime wave in many areas.
In addition to electronic emporiums, the apparently organized or semi-organized groups of thieves around the country have also targeted high-end apparel shops.
“In California, the cities of Lakewood, Los Angeles and Monterey all experienced smash-and-grab robberies on the busy post-Thanksgiving shopping day…Earlier this month, a handful of high-end retail stores like Burberry and Louis Vuitton witnessed robberies and vandalism in the San Francisco area. Los Angeles had also already seen several similar crimes in recent days,” The Hill recalled.
Best Buy’s CEO recently told CNBC that the thieving is a traumatic experience for Best Buy employees, which was reaffirmed by a statement from the company that it is taking steps to address the problem.

Last week, in a particularly shocking incident, about 80 individuals wearing ski masks and carrying weapons ranging from crowbars to firearms reportedly converged on a San Francisco-area Nordstrom’s and looted the store in a matter of a few minutes.

If this kind of repeated activity is a form of organized crime, the FBI presumably should commence a full-scale investigation immediately, although some might wonder if it perhaps has other priorities.
