LA firefighter in hot water for what he did with the vax mandate ‘letter of noncompliance’

With the possibility that millions of Americans could lose their jobs as a result of vaccine mandates, the actions of a Los Angeles firefighter whose provocative act of protest against the city’s insistence that he be jabbed, has generated headlines as well as buzz on social media.

The unnamed first responder who, according to reports, dropped his pants and wiped his rear end with a letter of noncompliance, has been put on paid administrative leave pending the results of an investigation of what went down at Fire Station 69, located in Pacific Palisades following complaints by an organization that represents the city’s black firefighters.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the act of defiance took place on November 18 when the “LAFD member responded to receiving the noncompliance letter by “dropping his pants and wiping his buttocks with the letter, leaving fecal matter on the document, before dropping it to the ground,” citing an account from the Stentorians of Los Angeles City which has called the protest a “terminable” offense.

“The LA City Stentorians are sickened and disgusted by this horrific display of unprofessionalism,” the group’s statement read. “To date, we have not heard from anyone from the LAFD administration condemning this act of blatant disrespect and harassment.”

“The department is aware of the seriousness of the allegations and took immediate action upon learning of this incident,” said LAFD spokeswoman Cheryl Getuiza.

While the race of the suspended fireman is unclear, it is a fair question to ask whether the Stentorians would have reacted this strongly if it was a person of color.

Reaction to the alleged act spread like wildfire across Twitter with many users suggesting that the fireman’s wiping of his butt with the noncompliance letter was a heroic act in a time of unprecedented repression and coercion over forced vaccinations, a position that has been exemplified by President Joe Biden’s employer vaccine mandates.

Others weren’t impressed.

According to the LA Times, a spokesman for Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti responded to the Stentorians’ complaint by saying that “mayor’s expectation is that fire department leadership will handle this matter definitively, and make it clear that these appalling actions will not deter enforcement of rules that we’ve put in place to save lives.”

The Times also quoted Fire Commission President Jimmie Woods-Gray, who said,  “I am beyond appalled at such an act by an LAFD firefighter,” adding that “strong corrective action is necessary.”

Garcetti has ordered city employees to get jabbed or lose their jobs, they have been given a deadline of December 18 to provide proof of vaccination or get a pink slip in their Christmas stockings.

“The city’s employee vaccine mandate is critical to protecting the health and safety of our workforce and the Angelenos we serve,” Garcetti said in a statement issued last month. “Employees must be vaccinated by December 18, and we are putting a rigorous testing program into place in the meantime. Let me be clear: Any employee who refuses to be vaccinated by this date should be prepared to lose their job.”

The city has already begun to place those who have refused to sign notices ordering them to get vaccinated by the deadline on unpaid leave, with Garcetti announcing last week that  77 people had already been affected, with the potential that hundreds more will soon be joining them over their desire to make their own personal medical decisions.
